i kind of roam around the site.

i may click on members tab, and the first thing that comes up is all the

people who have signed up for the ex with the last person to sign up at the top

of the list.

some have pictures, some don't.

many of the usernames don't look like anything a human would use.

its like they are randomly generated. this is where i spot spammers.

i have never seen more than 40 people logged

in at one time and usually, its many of the same people. so, how can there be 430,000+

active members? it would seem like one hundredth of one thousandth of the members here have

ever been active. its been like this for the three years i've been here. can anyone enlighten me?

its cuz this site has been around for sometime now and it dont let you remove your member ship, people move to different homes, change and lose there internet and once you are a member you are always a member.

JonesCarpeDiem

some of the user names in the new members page don't even look like real user names.

some might not be, but the users that want to lose there info and leave they change there settings to whatever and go,

you people help alot of people but not all can do that, so they will eather found all the help needed in there quit or they started again, or mybe lost there internet connection, eatherway you people do good work and should be proud of what you do for people, you cant help all but if you can help any, that is all the matters.

if you look in there folders you see most have there info deleted, those are the ones that quit useing the site, you can delete your blog and msg post but you cant delete your account, you can change user names tho, and that is what most are done for. that is why the user names dont make sence

I so agree with your point jonescarp. Like right now there are so many people active but not many of the regulars. And I'm wondering who the "umm" is even tho they are complimenting us. Strange goings on here tonight!

Speaking for myself, I am back after 3 years.   The site sends a nice message once in a while that we are welcome to come back. and   I always knew that one day I would have to come back..  So, any way,  I am just 1 in, what did you say, 430,000, but I am a real person that is just finishing her 9th day of not smoking.  I am glad all of you are here to provide real companship, empathy and support for this pretty tough process.  Thank you for even just being here everyday.

There is something very fishy about the whole thing, Carp Man.  My first impression is that there are a lot of donated funds which are wasted big time, and no one is talking, because no one on the receiving end wants to get cut short of their share of the pie.  You also have people paid to do a job with regards to this site, which is another questionable observation.  Just another example of what you get when your drop money, lazy people and profiteers into a big pot and stir continuously to keep from burning.  Make any sense???

last night there was 5 pages of people on and active. I have never seen that many even at the bonfires. My first thought was that the site was getting reviewed and they needed it to look very very busy here to get whatever funding they need. What do you think? with all those names there should have been 5 pages of spam last night. unless there was and I missed it.

About the Author
Hello, My name is Dale. I was quit 18 months before joining this site and had participated on another site during that time. I learned a lot there and brought it with me. I joined this site the first week of August 2008. I didn't pressure myself to quit. HOW I QUIT I didn't count, I didn't deny myself to get started. When I considered quitting (at a friends request to influence his brother to quit), I simply told myself to wait a little longer. No denial, nothing painful. After 4 weeks I was down to 5 cigarettes from a pack a day. The strength came from proving to myself, I didn't need to smoke because I normally would have smoked. Simple yes? I bought the patch. I forgot to put one on on the 4th day. I needed it the next day but the following week I forgot two days in a row I put one in my wallet with a promise to myself that I would slap it on and wait an hour rather than smoke. It rode in my wallet my first year. There's nothing keeping any of you from doing this. It doesn't cost a dime. This is about unlearning something you've done for a long time. The nicotine isn't the hard part. Disconnecting from the psychological pull, the memories and connected emotions is. :-) Time is the healer.
