I have one cigarette left.....

Was happy about it.....then someone came to me complaining about someone else.....I just want calm and peace.....I thought why use me as a sounding board right now.....I have one cigarette left.....although they don't know this or do they know how much that whinning played with my quit plan in my head....

Point is, I have to be willing to not have this plan altered by unexpected moments like that....

Such a small thing like that should not affect my plan.....this scares me, will I ever be able to quit.....

Well, I have one cigarette left, so here it goes....

Cheyenne, I am fairly new here (only about 2 weeks), but on day 56 of quitting. Please use all the suggestions you have already been through, not to give in during difficult moments.  We all have them.

What helps me is walk away from the place where the conflict happened, and go get a glass of cold water, or take a short walk outside.  If this is not possible where you work, you can just walk inside the building.  Also learn to meditate, even if it is just a short 5min body scan.  It really helps, please stay strong and go with the plan you already worked hard on.

Make this time count, make it be your last quit!

Deep breathing, water, and a brisk walk will release a lot of that tension.

Cheyenne, you know smoking doesn't help eleviate stress, it actually makes it worse.  Keep coming here every day. Read, read, read.  You can do this my friend!

Of COURSE you will be able to quit...do you really think smoking helped you handle anything?  Come here every day more than once a day if you can and make the commitment,

We love you and want you around for a long, long time!

You can do this, Cheyenne. I'm only on Day Six so i know what you mean. The other night I had a bad argument with someone but just took a brisk walk and the craving went away. Let's do this together!!

that's good though, it made you think.  Now, do you have a plan for when that happens again?  Sometimes all it takes is I've quit smoking and just can't deal with this right now.  I hope you understand or just think it and walk away.  Think to yourself can I physically change this situation from frustrating me.  Sometimes all it takes is nodding and walking away.  Stay close.  you're doing great !!!!!!

Don't ever let someone else make you so mad or feel so bad that you smoke.  Just put space between you and the problem. Go for a walk, call your best friend sounding board, chew some peppermint gum, cut a straw the size of a cigarette and inhale clean air.  Eventually you won't need the straws, but it helped me for the first couple of months.

You can do it.......

I know how hard it can feel . Stress was and still is a challenge to my addict brain more then anything else in my quit I am at 453 days of freedom ( or there abouts ) and when I am very stressed or very angry  I still think of a cigarette ! BUT I know now that I can and will get through it without one . As you get through these times ( I called them stress tests ) you will feel very proud of yourself and will rush to blog how you got through it with out giving in to ole nic !

Unless we are DEAD life is full of stress and conflict and other sad or depressing things and smoking does not stop them from happening and as some said can make it worse .You will certainly feel worse if you cave and smoke again .

Just try and get away or think of something you can do to relieve the stress build up inside I find deep breathing really helps or vent here or to a friend preferably an ex or non- smoker . A smoker may just encourage you to give in .

Give yourself time it is a healer ! the days add up fast and you will feel better and better the more you think positive things about quitting ......change your thinking you have more power then you realize !

Stay close - you have so very many people here that really care about you.  You can do this - you just have to believe in yourself the way that we believe in you!

Read up and come here often, blog, vent, re-read. You really can do this.

Is this cigarette your last one you will have and then you will start your quit? You now know a cigarette is not needed to get through stressful times. You did good getting through that moment.

JonesCarpeDiem

same question

did you smoke that last cigarette?

Are you done smoking?

It's pretty simple.  When you decide you're done - you'll be done.

Can you imagine that there is anything new under the sun that you haven't already learned here since  2013 with your first post?    Apply what you know to be true, and you will succeed.

Will you ever be able to quit?  Well, that's entirely up to you and that last cigarette you choose to smoke, or not to smoke.

Good to see you back you just got to do the journey its very easy over time but it takes time you know how fast time goes in the long run try to think only negative thoughts of smoking dont romance it we all have our moments through first 130 days 6 months or whatever thats what seperates getting freedom last time you had some time in but think you were still like if i could just have one now you just need to tell yourself do i want to put toxic smoke in my lungs then have a healthy snack try different route you know what to do you can do it

It's really great to see you Cheyenne, I hope you are going to start your day one and when you are getting ready for bed tonight you can smile and say YAY DAY ONE IS WON. Please believe in yourself because you are sooooooo much stronger than you realize, we all know you can be successful but you must believe in yourself and be willing to go through whatever cravings and roller coaster ups and downs of mood swings but you must stick with it.
