Dying is never better and thoughts like that---if you really mean it---are extremely troubling. Get some professional help and keep talking to us here---all of us. Everyone's life can seem dismal at different times. Please, please respond to us and don't give up.

Please listen to Jules.  Go see your doctor who prescribed Chantix.  Everyone cannot take it.  Chantix has some awful side effectsfor some people who take it.  Sounds like you need to come off Chantix.  I am not a doctor, so please go see one or go to the emergency room  ASAP!  We do not want to lose you and you  are not ready to throw in the towel.

Hey,

I just read your page and I see that you are grieving the loss of a loved one. I lost my Dad right when my doc prescribed me Chantix, but I decided to hold off until I felt better,,not so sad. It took me awhile to get through that, and I say through, not over. We  never really get over losing a close family member, but life still happens and we have to still get up every day and keep going, keep living.

If you really feel like you say you do, then maybe find a grief counselor or group to help you through this. Also, like everyone else said, see your Doc immediately about stopping Chantix, you have to wean down. If you stop all at once that could make things worse. Don't ever give up on yourself or your ife. It really is not a good way to be thinking. I hope you find some help and turn things around. You deserve to smile and have brighter days too, but you have to have a part in making your days brighter. Keep your head up and don't let yourself sink too low. No one knows how to deal with someone who chooses to go there, so pull yourself up as high as you can and get some help as soon as possible.

We're here for you when you're ready t o quit, but take care of your mind and heart right now. Be mindful of how much you smoke and plan ahead for your quit.

Best Wishes!

Diane

I don't know you from Adam.  But I saw this:

Interests: Singing, fitness, long walks, Good Friends, Fun! NOT SMOKING!

Skills: Rock and Roll singer, Personal trainer, Yoga Instructor

DON'T YOU F'KIN GIVE UP.  Ya HEAR??  Just get over it and get on with it.  You CAN do this.  Your interests and your skills are all aiming you in a beautiful direction.  Your life seems to be about health, fitness, friends and singing.  Cigarettes will kill three of those.  You don't need the damn things.  Chuck 'em.

Just a stranger cheering you on...more than you could ever know.

They are right. My mom died a few months ago and I had to just finally stop trying to lose weight, stop smoking, everything. and just focus on the grief, saw a counselor, and learned how to better deal with things.  I have a history of clinical depression, which is under control for over 20 yrs now, and I CANNOT TAKE CHANTIX.  I will not even tempt those side affects with my history.  alot of people can't.  It's a great product for those who can tolerate the side effects, but not for everyone.   Take their advice and stop it NOW, go see a doc ASAp or the ER.  Please don't give up. Always give it one more day.  Maybe you just need to stop and de-stress for awhile, then try again, when it feels more right for you............

Please keep in touch.

Have u tried Nicotine gum replacement, like the gum? It is partially a horrible thing, because it is addicting in itself. I tried once with chantxix, and multiples cold turkey..failed them all. Tried with the gum and i made it. anything is worth a shot, then sucumbing to thoughts of finally not trying.

If it is too much for you right now, take care of your heart regarding your loss first, then go back to quitting. You are most important right now and just because you slide back into smoking doesn't mean you are a lost cause. You just keep trying until you succeed! Good luck to you!!

Life is too precious to give up on.  If at first you don't succeed try and try again.  Whatever it is you're going through, it hasn't killed you it will only make you stronger.  You can be a living testimony to others when you get through this.  You'll look back and see that you were stronger than you realized.  Yesterday is history, today is the present, tomorrow is a mystery.  You made it through yesterday, you're standing today.  Don't worry about tomorrow, it's not here yet.

Hang in there.......I tried the Chantix 3 different times since it has come out in the market.....it made me want to crawl out of my skin, nauseous, and very anxious......I stopped it all three times.  I am now on my 3rd day of not smoking.  Don't let anyone tell you it is easy because it really is not....all you can do is keep trying if you want to...that is the key. Do it for yourself......I am 57 and have been smoling since I was 16. Can't tell how many times I have tried to quit and each time I failed....felt like a real loser......and a failure. But just remember you are worth it and you will succeed........I want to live for my 11 grandchildren who I love more than anything....So they are my inspiration right now...........please keep in touch. I am not here to judge just to help. I am a mom of 5 and can always take on one more if you need to talk..........Mimi (what my grandchildren call me)

Anyone here who beats you up needs to be outed and banned, IMO.

You are going to make it, JBreathe. If you've been prescribed Chantix, that means you have access to a doctor, right? I recommend telling your doctor that you want to try another approach.

Your desire is what will see you through; please don't give up. Some other method might help with the cravings. Perhaps the patch?

I'm praying for you, and all of us!

Yes, I do want the pain of withdrawal to end...oh, like now would be great!  lol  Life doesn't work that way.

All good things take patient nurturing...even me.

Just "Hangin' By A Moment..." then the next...and the next...repeat, go on.
