I can't believe I'm still quit!

Hello,

Sorry I have not been on in awhile. I keep saying I will come to the site and then I get diverted. I do get the emails with blogs by a few people and I am so grateful for them. I don't know if I could have quit at all if it was not for this site. I'm 38 days now and did not think I could go 5 min without a cig. I am so grateful to God for giving me the strength and this site so I could quit.

I am on Chantix and that helps a lot. Does anyone have any suggestions on how long to keep taking this med? I am a little nervous about stopping it. I am not really thinking about it just for today, but would like to have some idea on what worked for some people.

Thanks for all that you do and for all of the people who came before me so they share their experience and show me this works!

Lisa

Happy you checked in and really glad you are still quit.

You sound good.

you have the power now since you realize what it was to you.

Have you changed your mindset since you have been on Chantix?  Do you know within your entire being that you never, ever want to smoke another cig again?

Have you done the readings, watched the videos, have a "tool box" handy to reach into should you have an urge to smoke?

I ask all these questions because I quit smoking for 90 days on Chantix, but never really prepared myself mentally.  So when I went off the Chantix first thing I did was light up again.  Just make sure you PREPARE YOURSELF.

Chantix is only a mask to stop the cravings while you are on the drug.  The answers are entirely up to you.

I still had very strong cravings ON Chantix, so not sure what your experience will be.  I only took it for three weeks, then was in the hospital for four days and didn't start back up when I got home.  I did not notice any difference without it, honestly.

I second what Joy said above.  If you haven't already read all you can read and prepared well for your quit, I would definitely do that before I stopped the Chantix.  Once you are firm in your commitment, then, I think it would be safe to stop.  You could also check with the doctor who prescribed it to see what they think.

You are doing GREAT - Congratulations!

Thanks for all of your support. I do feel the power. I also know now that I can really do anything I set my mind to.

I have to check myself on my mindset to be sure I'm fully done when I am off the Chantix. I have tried to change things. I took the suggestions that are on the site and read postings from others who went before me. However, I will double-check. Thank you.

And, Youngatheart, it took something like 7 or 8 weeks before I started feeling the effects of Chantix. I was going to stop so many times during that time, but I weathered on. I was determined to quit. I knew it would work and I had read that it could take up to 4 weeks. I just kept going. And here I am 39 days quit. Yay!!
