*when I finish this pack

*when I finish this carton

*when my husband goes on a trip

*when I go on a trip

*when I am no longer grieving

*when I am not so stressed

*when I can take off work

*when I get a raise and can pay off some bills

*when I can afford to move

*when I move into my new home

*when I am settled in my new home

*when I am not taking care of my mother/father/sister/son/daughter

*when I get the puppy housebroken

*when my child is potty trained

*when I have an empty nest

*when winter is over

*when it stops raining

*when the kids go back to school

*when my husband/wife quits

There are plenty of good excuses why you can't quit today. There are no good reasons.

You will never regret quitting. The same cannot be said for continuing to smoke/vape/remain addicted to nicotine.

Educate, plan, prepare, commit...JUST DO IT!

@YoungAtHeart  I do believe I used almost all of your above excuses. But I don't do that anymore

I told myself many times variations of "I will quit when...." Of course, I always came up with a rationalization why my absolute quit wasn't really so absolute after all. Or I conveniently found another "I will quit when...." to take its place! I did that for many years until I realized that I really couldn't postpone quitting any longer, that I'd pushed my luck way too long.

Thanks, @AnnetteMM !  That was one of my personal favorites.  I can't believe I forgot it!

@YoungAtHeart Never cared about the price.  Just changed to a cheaper brand.

@YoungAtHeart

Nice post ! thank you.

All are really good reasons (those days) not to quit.

I had one thought while quitting, Now or NEVER ! so it worked.😊

Ain't this the truth though.  Every excuse, any excuse.  Sometimes I just didn't even think about quitting. Just having way too much fun smoke, smoke, smoking.  I am really glad I quit when I did though.  I can afford to buy groceries, because I don't spend that $$$ on smokes or alcohol or going out to smoke and drink anymore.  This has been a win-win.  My body is glad I don't abuse it anymore, that's for sure.

@Barbscloud Obviously.  A lot of us said it, none of us meant it.

@AnnetteMM You are so unpleasant.  That was meant to be lighthearted.  Some people just don't have a sense of humor. And I didn't respond to you which you seem to get upset about.

@Barbscloud I'd rather you didn't respond to me at all, quite frankly.

@AnnetteMM As I already said, I didn't!  Obviously, you responded to me.  I feel the same.

@AnnetteMM  After further thought, you and I, can respond to anyone we choose to.

This is a community.  "A community is a group of people who share something in common. You can define a community by the shared attributes of the people in it and/or by the strength of the connections among themIt's not meant to be for a select group of people or comments per your choosing.

If you don't want others to comment on your comments, than maybe you shouldn't make any.

About the Author
I smoked until a vascular surgeon informed me of the damage I had done to myself by doing so. I quit 11 years ago, and I can swim laps virtually FOREVER now, walk most other days 40 minutes to an hour and a half. What a difference quitting has made in my life! I strive to help others find this wonderful freedom from addiction, too.
