I did it!!!! I am so happy to have made it thru this one day smoke free and nicotine free. I think the key to this quit it going to be not adding any nicotine into my body for this addict with ANY type of NRT's. This blog is NOT about NRT's and whether YOU should or should not use them......that is YOUR business. All I know is I had to make a firm decision about whether is was really helpful or NOT to be putting myself in constant withdrawal by feeding my addiction with a little nicotine when it really wanted a whole bunch of it. FOR ME, I believe I have found the answer and key for the solution that has been right in front of me this entire time.

I feared that I could  NOT do this without any help. I was even TOLD so. Fellow quitters even thought I needed help with something. NOW THAT IS PUZZLING!!!!!! I just went thru an entire day without anything in my system and this day was easier and BETTER than all the other days I have been desperately seeking this out by using some form of medication. Today? My body went thru a natural cleansing. I am drinking ice water right now and it feels really good. I ate well today as well. (other than that huge chocolate donut thingy......only about 600 calories/20 grams of fat) <<<<< EWWWWW !!!! But the rest of the day was all good and healthy! I worked today and did a good job too. I could not say most of thee things a while back. I made a huge accomplishment today!

So moving forward now and looking towards day 2. I am looking forward to sleeping this evening. It has been a very exhausting week for me. My mom had surgery and I took care of her for 2 days as well in between the 3 other days of working and going to physical therapy. I REALLY look forward to my very first paycheck tomorrow! I had been out of work for a long time from my back injury, so this is a huge blessing and I am so grateful!

After I make it thru the day......I can come home and hibernate for the weekend and watch the snow fall. Day by day........hour by hour........moment by moment......I can do this with taking one single puff.  Thanks to day one......I am allowed a day two. See you all at day two.

What a thrill it was to get that update.  I agree with you totally on the constant nicotine withdrawal - I'm on Chantix which has no nicotine.

Now that the nicotine is getting out of your system (72 hours to do that), you may want to drink some cranberry juice.  It seems that when your body is flushing nicotine (cold turkey) that it does something to lower your blood sugar.  For me and many others we got headaches.  But drinking cranberry juice (8 ounces 3 times a day) restored the blood sugar and got rid of the headaches.   It takes about 20 minutes or so after drinking the cranberry juice for it to kick in.  And then say a prayer thanking your Higher Power for the strength and courage to be a quitter.

Onward to day 2.

YAY!!! Congrats!!

And think! Not one cent of that wonderful first paycheck will be spent on doing more harm than good!!! I would suggest that every week, you go out and get something new as a reward. It can be something small, or a new outfit!

Just keep with it! Keep writing, and staying strong. Cold turkey worked for me, and I understand the journey you are beginning!  I hope all is well with your mom, and dont stress, we all need some chocolate! I hope this finds you happy, determined, and having a great day!! Keep the quit! If you need anything feel free to send me a message!
