I Don't know about That Green Mask

First of all the No smoking could't be going better! I totally forgot about chewing my gum when I got down here to San Fran for 2 days. Yesterday I was feeling a little out of sorts and I didn't know why, like I was lacking something. Then this morning, still feeling that way, read Emma post and realized "the gum" and popped one in my mouth--ahh...

The first day of radiation was very unpleasant! I won't go into detail but they will definately remember me! It's a webbed green mask that fits very tight and they hook the mask over my face down onto the table tight. And it's vey uncomfortable. The first day I had it on for 30 minutes--I blew the horn twice!! Get me out of here. They were waiting for my doctor to give them the ok. THe second day, I only had it on for 10 minuntes--not bad at all--I CAN DO THIS! You should see this mask, I was waiting for Jim Carey to come spinning in.... ha ha

Just thinking about going home, I am having cravings. It's home is where my problem is, but I'm a NON_SMOKER NOW, so I think if I even tried to smoke I would get sick. YUCK The smell already makes me sick.  Thank you for all your support, I couldn't do it without you! Have a great weekend!

you should be ok as long as Jim Carrey isn't in the room taking selfies with you!

have a great weekend.

Think of this break from home as your chance to distance yourself from those triggers for a bit.

Praying for good results!

Good for you.... there was no reason to have you in the mask for that long... except to wait for the doctor.... blow that horn!  Whe the doctor is ready you will be happy to put on the damn mask...

You kept your cool. Good for you. It is never easy going in to get any kind of treatment, you totally feel like you are helpless. Sorry you had to go through that. Yep I would of been blowing that horn too!!! LOL

Thanks for letting us know how you doing. Keep that positive attitude--you are very brave to go through all that.

XOXO

Prayers are so with you...I cannot imagine that mask, makes me shake just thinking about it.  I can't even get through an MRI without major sedation because I am so claustrophobic.  You are doing wonderfully...when you finally get home, you will have passed at least some of the earliest triggers.  Any chance that your home will have no smoking paraphenalia there?  Be clean and aired out?  It would probably help you when you get there.

Oh and it IS gross...there is no other way to think about it.

I just looked up radiation masks to get a better idea of what you're going through..  My my my.  I suppose it will become old hat after a while.  Bad enough to have the mask on, but then to be fastened to the table wth it.  Ooooheeeeeeeeeee.  You stay strong.  Every treatment you have is one less you'll have to go through.  Don't forget to BREATHE!

On a lighter note - maybe they should sell those masks for quitting purposes.  Put it on during moments of high craves.  It automatically locks around your face and has a 3 minute timer.  When the timer beeps, the lock opens and you can take it off.

Prayers for you, strength to you.  Hold tight to that quit.

Thanks for the update sounds like you are doing well with treatment & your quit.

5 Years ago when I finished my radition treatments I asked them if I could keep my mask, I now use it for a halloween decoration.
