Well I have been smoke free for over a month and tonight I smoked 5 cigarettes. I got some bad news that sent me right to the store and I bought a pack and sat in my car and smoked and thought about what I was going to do about the situation. After I smoked I felt sick, and then felt like I let myself and my kids down and then I threw away the rest of the pack, came home and took a shower. I am not going to beat myself up about this and I am not going to keep using these stupid excuses to keep slipping...

Make the decision, make the commitment, when stress or cravings come, smoking is not an option!  Looking for a way to cope is the only solution, smoking is not really considered.  You will have lots of bad news and stresses in this life so we have to get used to life without cigarettes to dull the pain, stress, boredom etc. etc.  It is an ongoing process.

What will you do now?  Try whyquit.com for some inspiration and education about what happens when you take one puff.

I'm so glad you threw the pack away.  I recently experienced the guilt and dissappointment of a slip, so I know how you feel.  Just get back up and at it, MissJudy.  Stay strong and remember NOPE 🙂

You just have to take smoking out of your life..don't use it when thing get tough. It can't be on the list of thing to do in a crisis or you will continue to run to it the rest of you life...let it go completely. you made the decision to to buy them then smoke them that took more than a few seconds to do don't give yourself the choice any more if you don't have them you can't smoke them.....my motto  when I first quit....Just move on...Deb

Smoking doesn't fix bad news. It just makes you feel worse. You are an ex-smoker so you can't run and smoke when you feel stress. We all have stressfull events - we need to learn to cope using different methods to work through them. Get back to quiting. After a month  you know you can do it for life.

Just get back on.  You know now that the cigarettes didn't help.  The bad news was still there.  The cigarettes couldn't take it away and you ability to handle the news, the strength you need, isn't going to come from a cigarette.  You know this, so start your quit with renewed conviction.
