I started this journey telling myself it was time to rid myself of addictions. I started with diet coke.. about a case a day .. Check Done.. Then it was Weight Loss...Check Done... 63 pounds down... Then it was smoking... 42 days down. Check Done..

Here is the Kicker. I have nothing but issues since quitting everything. I know this sounds like I bitching and .. I am .. I've had bell's palsy it hasn't gone away yet. So I had my doctor do  a MRI to make sure I didn't have a stroke. Yeah.. didn't have a stroke. but the dr. reading the MRI saw some lesions on my brain. Now they are looking for Cancer. What Next!

Congrats on quitting.  The more I'm learning about this process amazes me.  Many people seem to have medical/emotional problems surface that they didn't have prior to quitting.  Don't get me wrong, quitting smoking is a good thing.  I've always battled my weight and lost weight before I quit for that very reason.  I have gained more than the normal weight since I quit.  I was really depressed about it and finally decided something wasn't normal and contacted my doctor.  Blood work and found out yesterday I have hypothyroidism.   On researching this, a percentage of quitters develop this as a result of quitting.  I know this can difficult to accept--we should be feeling better, we should be healthier, etc.

I'm sure that is a scary thing to hear about you MRI .  What happens next?   Please let us know what is happening.  Sending positive thoughts your way.

I am so sorry you are going through this.  I so hope that they can figure out what is going on AND fix it.  You have come so far, you have done so much for yourself.  First things first, find out for sure what it is and then go from there.  There are many more treatments now than there used to be.  Know that you are in my prayers...please do keep us posted, Dee.

Hugs,

Ellen

I totally understand this scenario...I quit diet cola prior to quitting cigarettes..thought I was going to loose my mind...then I quit smoking which compounded the process of horrible withdrawal.   Like my body was saying what the what??  And hypothyroid diagnose...But here almost three years later, stoke survivor, I feel great, work out daily, and continue to death healthy...whatever that means now a days!!  Possibly all the toxins released at once!!

I have to say, (cause never say never) I hope to NEVER have either addiction return back to my life.

stage 4 lung cancer.. biopsy .. radiation.. chemo doctor still has told me what type of cancer. hope pet scan and biopsy will determine that. Everything is moving so fast. It isn't in the liver so they don't think is small cell lung cancer. or asbestos cancer. so they seem to whittle it down.

deesmith‌ PLEASE keep us in the loop, come here and let us know what, if anything that we can do to help. I am so terribly sorry that this is happening, I am also grateful that the Bell's Palsy set things in motion so that you can get treatment.  My heart goes out to you.

Big hugs,

So sorry also.  So much happening so fast; it's a lot to absorb.  Glad something else led them to finding this now.  Hope you have someone lean on.  We're here for you if you need support.

Keeping you in my thoughts.
