I sit and stare at that page with the triggers and have no answers for how to beat most of them.

your profile page? What you have to do is keeping saying no. Not One Puff Ever! do something else!  What you did by blogging here is great. Thats what you want to do if you are finding old nic.

I hope you have done the recommended readings? Several folks posted good information on your iniital blog that you might want to check out.

The idea is to get busy when you have a craving.  Even slow, deep breaths work, as does playing a computer game, or doing a jigsaw or crossword puzzles.  Here is a link to a list of 100 things to do to give you some more ideas:  All these takes some effort in the early days, but it gets to be second nature after awhile.  Remember - you are relearning your life as an ex-smoker - so get learnin'!

You CAN do this!

Not finding,,,,fighting! sorry for the typo

what I did when I first started to prepare myself to quit was not how to beat the triggers but how to replace the cigarette associated with it.  Morning coffee, replace the smoke with a small piece of chocolate instead.  Think of many things that you enjoy, let it be food, music, crafts, whatever it may be and replace those things for the cig that you have when you have a trigger.  You have to reprogram your brain

It's a tough question and no right answer.  All I can suggest is that you find something to do, ANYTHING, that contradicts smoking.  Go for a walk, hit he mall, find a good movie, a book or magazine, take a nap, or if those aren't options, grab some gum.  I tended to have the most intense cravings when I was bored.  You won't become a non smoker until you are ready and able to battle through the cravings one by one.  They get better in time.  Keep fighting!

Here are what I put for some of mine:

Celebrations - dance 'til your feet fall off

Coffee - drink tea

After a Meal - Don't sit there dwelling on it - nothing to do about this one, cravings will just be there. Get up and Buck up.

Morning Routine - change it.

Having Fun - Stop having fun? I don't think so. Learn to say NO.

Being Stressed -  Live with it, smoking won't help.

There are many suggestions out there for craving busters, but quitting takes work.  Part of that work is to come up with your own imaginative solutions for triggers.  If one doesn't work, try another.  Obviously the first thing we want to do is eliminate the trigger if possible.  Some triggers simply can't be eliminated.  But we CAN learn to alter how we deal with them.  It's all about  focusing our attention elsewhere.  That's a skill that can be learned.  But it takes some time.  Don't be discouraged - just keep working at it!

Your telling yourself you don't but you really do have the answers- think positive-you quit for 41/2 years but started again because of your stress.. Did smoking help stop your stress? For me it might have worked for 5 minutes after I put out the cigarette. You'll manage to learn how to deal with one trigger at a time-like you did before. Take deep breaths-clear your head-then remember why you quit.

Make your own list with your very own ideas....you have them, trust me!!  Your quit is entirely about you!!  How powerful is that?!  Make it yours.  Do the things you love to do.  Develop other things you don't even know you love to do yet.  Surround yourself with everything that says "This is who I am".

Part of quitting involves getting to know the you who doesn't hide behind smoking.  Find the real you and create a life you love.  Those things will help you get through anything!!

Don't dwell on smoking, let it pass through and then let it go! You had a long quit! Dig deep, you can do this! Stay strong! and if you can't get past the trigger part move on to something else, and maybe come back to it, or not! This is your quit! Everyones quit is different!

I Won't Quit on my Quit!

Can't add a thing to all the above except find yourself a quit buddy or 5. 🙂 People you can call, text, message or spend time with.. It's a good idea for that person to be a non-smoker, IMO
