I am new to this. I have been on this plan to quit smoking for 3 days I used to smoke a pack a day and i've only had 3 in past 3 days but I'm feeling gittery and like I'm going crazy I'm trying the suckers, hard candies and chewing on staws and gum I know I can do this but I still need help. any help would be great.

Thanks

Hi Cathy:  Some things that work for me, when I get up in the morning and have 1st cig thought, I say, I WILL NOT SMOKE TODAY.  I think taking it one day at a time and coming often to this site and whyquit.com have made all the difference to me.  Day 44 here.  You can do this - make a list of why you want to quit and celebrate feeling better, breathing better and smelling better.

What are you doing when you get a craving?  Do you have a plan?  You can exercise, even just going for a short walk.  Needle work, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, painting, going to places where you can't smoke (the mall, the movies, a library).  How's your food?  If you eat better quality food, you'll probably feel better.  Sleep if you're tired.  In other words, take care of yourself -- you are healing from years of abuse.  And don't forget to come here and connect with us.

CATHY, IT PROBALY WILL BE THE HARDEST THING YOU WILL EVER DO AS QUITING GOES. I TAKE THE CHANTIX I HAVE BEEN 28 DAYS TODAY SOEMTIMES I STILL GET THE SMALL CRAVINGS I JUST SAY NO AND DO SOMETHING ELSE. I HAVE FOUND THAT I CANNOT HAVE THEM IN THE HOUSE IT MAKES IT MORE DIFFICULT TO RESIST THE TEMPTATION. IF YOU HAVE TO MAKE A TRIP SPEND MONEY AND HAVE TIME TO THINK ABOUT WHY YOU REALLY DON'T WANT TO SMOKE THE URGE IS GONE.TRY MAKING A LIST OF WHY YOU SON'T WANT OT SMOKE  I HAVE ONE FOR YOU GO JUST THREE DAYS WITHOUT ONE AND WALK BY A SMOKER IT WILL DISCUST YOU THE SMELL  IS HORRIBLE. I WILL FRIEND YOU IF YOU WANT TO WRITE ON MY PAGE I KNOW  I SMOKED FOR OVER 34 YEARS AND I CAN TELL YOU THE DAMAGE IT DOES.
