Been feeling anxious and just wondering why I haven't went through the hacking phase yet, or any of the real mental breakdowns from not smoking . Don't get me wrong , I've been ansy some days but I feel like I should be climbing the walls more ...OR is it going to hit me when I least expect it!? Grrrrrrrr! The feeling of "not knowing" has me wondering (sighs)

Everuone's quit is different. You may not ever "hack" or have "mental breakdown".

Your quit is yours with it's own progress and problems.

My quit was mine with it's progress and problems.

No two quits are exactly alike. They differ with the person.

Take it one day at a time.

I say it often, and believe it to the core.

One step, and then another, will get you to where you want to be.

I never coughed when I quit and I smoked for 40 years.

Like Larry says, it's different for everyone but, especially the first month.

If you read my page, I cover this on through the first two years.

I never coughed, either.  Don't know why some do and some don't.  And, I remember being grouchy and then I went through a period of zero energy, but I don't think I climbed the walls, either.  The better you are at distracting yourself and staying busy, the less stressful and difficult this should be for you.

So - find something to do.  Think POSITIVE!  Rejoice in the fact that you are quitting smoking and that the addiction is no longer ruling your life.  You should notice taste and smell improving soon, too.

I am at 7 months and I have not had any bad phases during this quit. I have enjoyed this quit even with the minor discomfort of the thoughts of smoking. Never had strong urges to smoke. No coughing episodes but after a good run/walk I can on occasion hack up a little. Just always remeber smoking is not an option, not one puff ever. Now go enjoy your quit.

Don't look for trouble till it gets there! Be GRATEFUL for your Quit and the Blessings just multiply! Fortify your Quit during the good times so you'll be ready IF and when the bad times come upon you! Remember Mindfulness thinking. Savor the NOW as much as possible.

Sounds like you have a very positive attitude about this quit. That is important.  Although quitting can be challenging at times, it can also be exciting, fun, enjoyable and a welcome challenge.

Hi! I haven't had a real hard time. When a crave hits I give it a minute then kick it out. I am glad I quit!

My name is Lisa and I'm 42 years old. I started smoking as an adult(in my 30's). Two years ago, I quit and like a dumbass I started again a year ago (sighs)! I'm a diabetic (6years) and on 4 oral medications! I lost my father(my only parent) at the young age of 55 from heart problems which I know the raw truth is from smoking.
