I just signed up, my name is Alex and I will quit smoking in 16 days.

I have been smoking for around 9 years, so it feels strange moving towards that day.

The main reason I decided to stop smoking is fear for my health. I will write more on it in the future days.

Glad to be here, EX looks great till now.

Welcome to our community!

It is wonderrful that you have made the decision at a young age.  I commend you!

The most important thing you can do right now is to educate yourself on what nicotine does to your body and mind. To that end, I highly recommend Allen Carr's “The Easy Way to Stop Smoking.” This is an easy and entertaining read. Here is a link to a free PDF version of it:

As well, read the sections on this site, and read the blogs, responses and pages of folks you think might be helpful. You might visit whyquit.com and quitsmokingonline.com for the good information contained there, Do the tracking and separation exercises outlined on this site.

After you have completed the readings, it will be time to make your informed quit plan, including what quit aid , if any, you will use, and the crave busters you think will work for you. Then you can approach your quit day with a plan in place.

Stay close to us here; ask questions as you have them and for support when you need it. We will be with you every step of the way

Hi Alex! Welcome. I have also been smoking for 9 years and guess what? Today is my quit day and I have been on here for about a week, reading, preparing, and soaking in the wisdom and guidance of all the bloggers (like the ones that commented above for you)! I feel good, I feel positive, and I am confident this time. And I know you can do it too. Keep writing, keep reading, and let's do this together. 🙂 Good luck!

Thank you very much everyone for the more than warm welcome!

At the moment I am keeping track of the cigarettes I am smoking and putting as much separation time as possible between the trigger and the light up.

I will definitely be visiting every or every other day and check the resources you gave me. Thank you so much for everything and sure nnm2359 let's do it together!

I am quitting in 13 days.

Now I will go read what you proposed and probably write my progress in a new blog, once I quit in 13 days 🙂
