Hear Me ROAR!

This morning I was able to do some weeding in one of my gardens for the first time ! Had to use an “old lady” gardening bench – but as I recover, I am minding those accoutrements less and less. Let me tell you, those weeds were partying in my absence!!! I had some that stood over 6 feet tall!!

It is feeling so good to start to return to my usual active life. I am still using a cane outside – but no longer need it in the house. I feel as though the progress has been SO slow, but my daughter keeps reminding me of where I started when I got home 7 weeks ago.

Just like quitting smoking, it's a day at a time and a celebration of the progress we make. Do remember to reward yourself for a job well done! I see some retail therapy in my future (and perhaps some Talenti gelato!)

So happy for you that you are able to get out in your beloved garden.  I would so like to be able to do that but between the shortness of breath from the humidity and the shoulder issues, I can't weed anything any more.  A few years ago, I was trying to get rid of some vines and I pulled with all of my might and about 6' away, a little "bush" disappeared and I fell backwards down the hill.  I KNEW I was hurt when I tried to stand up and I could not get my legs together...I looked like I had been riding a horse and the horse was now invisible.  I made my way into the house and KNEW it was bad but I had an appointment with the rheumatologist the next day.  She wanted to send me to have an MRI and I said, "let's wait and see if it gets better with some ice."  I finally gave in and went for an MRI, I could not sit for more than ten minutes without screaming in pain...the MRI showed three ruptured discs.  I never missed a day of work in spite of the fact that I had to use a walker to go any distance and carry a purse...I could use a cane for short distances.  It took six months before at least SOME of the pain was gone.  Even now...you can actually SEE a significant deformity in my spine.  They cannot do surgery on it because of my osteoporosis.  I think my weeding days are over...but by GOD, I sure do respect you for ALL that you do! Love, Ellen

Nancy I am so proud of you. Please do not overdue as I am always accused of doing so.

God is the great physician and He will watch over us and lay His healing hand upon us. You are truly an inspiration to me and thank you for all of your love and support.

I am like you today. I have an acre of grass to cut and trim and clean out flower beds. The grass first then i will see what the back says. If pain is too bad, then I stop.

Have a great day and God bless
