My husband that is.
About 1 week after quitting smoking I started spending more time outside doing yard work. I have planted, transplanted, uprooted and gardened more than I have since we moved here 6 years ago. Out of 16 acres, 14 of them are wooded. So what does this have to with quitting? Well, about a week ago I noticed some vines growing up and along a little tree that was on the outskirts of the woods behind/beside our house. I decided to get out the weed clipper and cut it away from the poor little tree. Guess what, there was another tree next to that one, and another one next to that one. I get out there every evening now and march up to the woods with my clippers in hand determined to "save" another tree.
I can't help it, I find it very theraputic being in the woods saving my little trees. I don't think about smoking at all while I'm clipping away those hateful vines. I just have to remember to stop talking to the trees while in the woods. My husband caught me today telling a tree that I was there to save it so it could live a good life.
Oh well, maybe after the trees I will move on to cleaning the whole stream behind the house! I know I can do it now that I have quit smoking!!
My husband said I should have quit smoking years ago, then maybe the other 14 acres would be clear cut by now. Well, give it time!
