Good morning. I'm home with hubby who smokes. Please help! It's driving me crazy. Think I'll get outside. It's easy during the week when he is at work and I'm home alone. We work opposite shifts. I need my ex smoker buds right now! Thanks! Have a happy day!

Grab a bottle of ice cold water and take a walk down the street , around the yard if you can.  Anything just move and don't let the thought get the best of you. Deep Breathe, breathe and did I say take a Deep breath.  You CAN do this!!  You are Strong!!! Say NOPE!!! SINAO!!!   Whatever mantra works just don't give in.

Sit outside close your eyes and go to a place that's relaxing and comfortable to you. Complain to yourself about how bad they smell and how you don't want to smell like that think about the smell in your mouth like ewww. But get away from it if possible. You can do this! You're strong and your quit is precious to us and to you!!

So let me ask you a question. Do you know how to get rid of a stray cat? You quit feeding it. That thought of you just have to go get a smoke, that is a living crave inside of your head right now. Here are some tactics that I use from time to time to kill the stray. Go get a yo-yo, throw a tennis ball against a wall, go for a walk. Anything that will occupy your mind and keep your hands moving. Just make sure that you are not sitting around thinking about it and wishing it away. That is actually feeding it. Remember, we have to quit feeding that stray. You can do this. Pops

That's right. They smell horrible. And smoking does nothing but make nothing happen. Makes a person awfully dang boring to be around. (While they sit and work on getting their nicotine level up). I don't want to be that person. I'm not that kind of person. I'm not a drag!!

My, quite a contract from your blog of yesterda's.  Go back and read it.  Such a roller coaster, ain't it!

It's tiimes like these that we must remember WHY we are on this site, why we came here.  The desire to remain free must be stronger than the desire to return to the addiction.  You've put in over a week of HARD WORK.  You want to be free.  So he smokes - so what.  You have made the decision not to.  Haven't you?  HAVEN'T YOU?  Of course you have.  So relax.  You don't do that any more.

I'd suggest some reading in Relaps Traps.  Start with Replay the Relapse..  Another blog that might help keep you safe: Are You Headed for a Relapse?

And get yourself out of the house and the stinking thinking until you regroup!

You are a non-smoker.  Remain that way.  You've put in too much hard work not to.

Remember not to be too judgemental because you were once  that person and so was I ! I find myself annoyed with my friends smoking sometimes but I did it too and it took me 52 years to stop !

I find the smell really doesn't bother me I have been smelling it all of my life all of my relatives were smokers too . I do get more annoyed with her when we are arguing and she lights up and I know it is because anger is a huge trigger for me ! It is much easier now then it was in the beginning of my quit . i almost lost it a few times !

Hang in there Judy you can do it ! The power lies within you to stick to the commitment of Nope !

Stay Strong and Carry on !

All of the above...go to a movie or a cafe or a mall, you'll have air conditioning and you will be out of the house!

Hang in there, you can do this...it would be really nice if HE would not smoke in the house, sort of a supportive thing.  It WILL get easier.

This is not about him.  It is about you.  Focus on you.  You are important.  It is your life you are saving.  You can only save your own.  Just be an example.  It will get easier.  Do not use his smoking as an EXcuse to go backwards.  You can do this.  KYou will be tested but be ready by keeping a cold bottle of water with you at all times.  Eventually, when you think of smoking water will replace the thought. Keep tooth picks, straws, fruit, gum, cough drops, popsicles on hand.  Put on the armour and shield to protect your quit.  You do not have to fight, relax and breathe  One crave at a time. ....NO MATTER WHAT.  You can do this.  Do not give in.

Thank you everyone! I did go outside. I got in the pool. Then I took a nap.. So far Im still hanging on to my quit. Tomorrow morning it will be the same thing. He'll get up and have coffee and cigarettes and work on his nicotine level again for awhile. This is the hardest part for me.I have to come up with a plan and stick to it.

I'm glad to see your comment above - you did the right things by going in the pool and taking the nap! Carr's book taught me to feel sorry for smokers! That really helped me (I lived with 2 smokers for a while after I quit.) Feel very sorry for them - they don't "get to smoke" - they "have to smoke"!

Congrats on your quit! You did exactly the right thing by coming here to blog....keep on doing that!
