Still smoke free, but missing the motions of smoking. Feeling edgy. Find myself drinking a bit more alcohol than usual, which is not good for a new quit. Could use some support--or even a good kick in the backside. I hope everyone has a good day.
Thanks! What a great list! Today I soaked in the tub. I took myself out for an Americano with an extra shot. I will be watching the baseball playoffs and going to the doctor for my annual physical. Right now I am hanging out with my Milo with sports on the tv and my beloved EX website on the computer. I will keep that list handy. Thanks again!
No, drinking a bit more alcohol than usual is definitely NOT good for a new quit. So STOP IT! Aaaargh. What - you're aching for a relapse?
Keep your hands busy. Keep your mind busy. Do something you've never done before. Shake up your routine. Don't dwell in the smoking thought well. It'll drown you every time.
Have you read the book Easy Way by Allen Carr? Someone has it here on this site. That is how I started this quit and it really helped. You should get a copy and read it. I am sure some can get it for you.
I will not kick you! But, Giulia is right no alcohol. It lowers your inhabitions. I have seen quite a few quits lost because of alcohol, Just since I got here!
Read the book, take a walk, do something else! Do not dwell!! June, you have a quit going! Keep moving forward!
It seems that I have always had a wicked hand to mouth habit even until I was in my 40's I bit my fingernails terribly even as a smoker ! My biggest aid for that has been the trusty straws cut into thirds .I used them a lot in the first few months and now I don't need them as much but just this morning driving to work I had that urge for something in my hand and mouth besides a cigarette and I keep some in the car, Just chewing on it for a few minutes did the trick !
Hang in there it gets easier please don't mess up your quit by drinking alcohol I used to drink and it can give you that "I don't give a crap attitude " until the next day when all the regret and consequences set in !
Hi June. Where are you in regard to the nicotine gum? I remember you decreased it relatively recently. NRT's NOT smoking. It takes time to get over cigarettes. I never thought I would get over smoking. It happens. Do whatever it takes to get to that point. Do not worry about NRT's. Worry about smoking! Love, Barbara
I hope and pray that you are still with us June, you can do this my friend. You have alot of good suggestions above me, I have nothing to add other than (DON'T DRINK) -- you know how many good people have lost their quit to booze. Drink lemonade or iced tea anything but the alcohol, love you my friend. Stay strong and blog HELP if you are having a hard time. (((((Big Hug)))))
I saw the link above in a comment. It seems odd that it would be okay to put a copy of the book on here. Shouldn't that be an issue with copyright infringement or has the author given their permission? Nevermind, I got my answer. It' didn't let me post the link. Which is good I suppose.
