Tomorrow is 7 days without a cigarette. I have been using the patch #2 but changing every 2 days or so without really few cravings. Taking it off at night as one person suggested. I still have few left from the box. Should I try to cut the patch in 1/2 since I am not suffering the withdarwals, or is it too soon. The package sais 6 weeks but I don't think I need it for so long, or could I go to number #3 insted. Dale thinks the nicotene is released the first 24 hours, but i keep it double the time. Just wondering, any feedback will be much appreciated.

thank you

still not certain which boad I should be posting from for the group to get it. This one is from My blog .

Just an extrapolation on what I do know about the patch and what I don't.

First, the normal actual intake of nicotine per cigarette is 1mg. There is more per cigarette but from my understanding, 3/4 of it goes up in smoke before it gets to your mouth and into your system.

It is my understanding the nicotine is time release from the time you stick it on your skin to give you an even regulated doase of nicotine. What I am not sure of if it is used up after the first 24 hours.

If it weren't, why are you supposed to put a new one on daily?

2 1/2 days for a 1 day patch would logically mean that you aren't getting any nicotine (or very little) the last 36 hours.

If that's the case, and you've been doing this 60 hour wearing of a 14 mg 24 hour patch, you may not even need the patch. LOL

Again, just extrapolating.

there is still nicotine on the patch evenb after you take it off thats why you are supposed to be careful how you discard it.. cause small children can be poisoned if they should accidently get a hold of it....now how much nicotine is on it i knot know....but you should be using it as it is directed and not playing around with your addiction...

if you feel you do not need it  then by all means go down to the lower level of patch... once your body has adjusted you may feel withdraws ... this can come in the form of moodiness or emotional outbursts such as crying for no reason at all... and not actual physical conditions...so just be aware and take caution...

seven days is a major step towards freedom so congratulations...

I changed mine daily and in the end i did cut them in half just to use them up and get rid of them.  I read that there is fourteen milligrams in these patches and seven in step three and felt like crying because it is supposed to be the equalient of seven a day.  But i don't think it works that way because when i went off the patch i was fine.  Not at all like i had been smoking seven a day.  I had my brain washing under control however, through all the reading I had done.

I went off the 21mg patch after using 10 of them and didn't notice any withdrawl.

I think people should listen to their body.

I forgot to put the patch on my 4th day and got through.

the end of the next week I forgot to wear it two days in a row so I figured I didn't need it anymore that was over 7 years ago.

All the patch really does is take the edge off at the beginning of a quit.

There's nothing more magical about it than that.

Using it for months is no guarantee of anything

Thank you so m uch everybody for your inpoot. That really helps. Funny thing happened after I spent time posting my question o the group. AsI described my craving have been really very small and quite infequet. But When i was writing about NOT HAVING CRAVINGS and thinking about cutting the patch in half, withing just few minutes of time I got the biggest craving YET. I did cut the patch in half, but the craving was really strong out of nowhere, so I put the second half on as well.  What is that about??? I don't understand it al all. Whole week i am doing great and jusr when i wath to cut in 1/2 my body freaks out. Similar sthing happened the first week I was cutting down went down to 4 and then one freek out and smoked 10 that was before mmy quit day. It seems like it is something subconscious. Did anybody experienced. I don't know if my body is fighting a possible symptoms of a cold or if these could be withdawal symptoms.  Hot sweats and cold shivers. Woke up severa; times during the nught just freezing cold, extra blankets didn't do the job so I ended up taking HOT bath several times during the night. Then I woke up all sweaty. This has been going on for couple of days. Little better last night, just ended up using extra blanket.

If you have any similar experiences or know what i am talking about I would appreciate your feedback

Thank you so much everybody. It is really good to know i have a place I can go to and ask my questions without feeling stupid or embarassed .
