Have I been helping?

Its been 520 days since I quit and for those who have been following me on my quit journey:

I would like to know has my quit been helping you stay motivated with yours?

How does my story benefit you as someone who is protecting their quit or quitting the smokes?

Somebody please feed my curiocity   :O) Every quit experience is different along with reading other people's  blogs.

This place is constantly changing. People come and go all the time. The blogs change all the time. If you write a blog one day, a day later it is 2 or 3 pages down the list and virtually disappeared and therefore extinct.

So, unless you are here all the time I don't think new even people would even know who you are. I also don't believe people go back read other peoples blogs like they used to. They are too wrapped up in their own thoughts and quit.

But, there ae so many people reading here on a daily basis, you are never really sure who you help! Until you get that PM from someone you don't even know, telling you that you changed their life! That my dear will keep you coming back! If you save just one life it is so worth the effort! We will never know how many we save, but we are all part of the process!

Take care of you! And keep throwing in your two cents worth! It all adds up!

I have to agree with Dale.   There are so many people coming through here that unless you are blogging daily and responding to many of the blogs of others....people probably won't know your story.     But, all it takes is one person reading and connecting with what you say so that it helps them....to make your blog that day a help to others.      I don't believe that we can or should expect that what we write will "shake up the world" (not saying that is what you are thinking....just making a point here) and create a totally smoke free world.     I used to blog every single day throughout my quit and respond to just about all blogs.     I can't do that anymore.....and I don't think I have to.     I do come on here every single day, make my daily pledge, offer something IF I have something to offer.     And I pray that God will use my words/thoughts/ideas in whatever way they should be used to help someone.

Come here more often......get more involved in the site.....I guarantee that if you are doing that you will not need to ask the question "have I helped you".

I used to think that the number of comments received determined my effectiveness. I no longer see it that way. Some very effective blogs might have 2 or even no comments! YOU are making a difference both as an individual and collectively! YOU are saving lives and showing the way! Just reading 500 + days stimulates people to believe that they can do this too! Keep contributing and always trust that your voice is valuable!

You bet your quit is helping.  A successful quit motivates newbies to achieve that same success and oldbies to maintain theirs.  Relapse undermines the fabric of support.  Relapse (anybody's relapse) creates tiny tears in the threads of our gorgeous smoke-free garment.  It erodes confidence and encourages other failures.  But a healthy quit, such as yours, gives strength and nourishment to the entire community here.  Your quit boosts my quit and makes it stronger.  Have no doubt - your quit most definitely helps.

People read here all the time. I don't write for responses. I know people read. That's really all that matters. I admire your quit

One of the greatest things about this community here is that the Elders still stick around after so many years and help us newbies anyway they can. As far as if your quit has helped others, I am sure that it did as all succesful quits do.

I dont reply to very many posts, but I sure do read them. Sometimes I just dont have any sound advise to give, or others have already said what I would have said.

I first started smoking in around 2008 after a horrendous break up. I don't know why I did in the first place. I resent this decision to this date. Now I am free and continue to stay off the cigs! I currently work as a kitchenhand and write music!
