Happy 21 Day Anniversary to Me!

I made it to day 21!  It is an important one, because apparently, something in my brain has now reverted back to that of a non-smoker.  Here is a link of the timetable explaining the process.

I feel like today is a big accomplishment.  I can't lie - I still get cravings, but they aren't anywhere as strong as they used to be.  I think I will probably always get them.  This is kind of a danger zone too, because you have convinced yourself you have quit.  So, it sounds easy to justify having one. " I know I can quit now, so I can have one occasionally, if I really want to".  I am not going to give into that thought, because I know where it will lead me.  I had a moment of truth on Saturday.  I was detailing my car and way under the seat was a pack of Cigarettes.  Camel No. 9.  Those were my love!  And of course there was just one in it.  I must have missed that one & bought another pack at some point.  My mind was like....." I got this.......I can have this one, no big deal - but instead I immediately crushed it and threw if away.  FU Camel No 9!!  I like to breath without an oxygen tank.............which I would have at some point, if I didn't quit.  You might not get cancer, but  emphysema or COPD is almost certain.  Those diseases make you feel like you are being suffocated.  I'm choosing not to have them!  Thanks to everyone who has supported me on this endeavor.  If I can do it, anyone can.

Call them smoking thoughts instead and the power instantly goes down....and as a few members here say, an urge is not a command and will go away whether we smoke or not. Great job of recognizing the junkie thinking and CONGRATS on Day 21.!!! xoxo

CONGRATS 21 days is great milestone. I've been free almost 19 months and get a smoking thought every now and then, last about 3 seconds so they do get weaker and further between. You are doing very good.

Great job, Deb, CONGRATULATIONS!

I'm about the same as you, day 23 for me.  I also still get an urge on occasion, usually right after I eat, but it is becoming more manageable.  I can't believe you found a cigarette and threw it away.  Good girl.   I think would really have been tempting!

On to week number 4 as a non-smoker!  🙂
