Yes, it has been 12 years! It has been a wonderful 12 years! I came here, did the reading, got the support - and I quit! Best decision ever! For those just starting their journey, I can tell you - you can do this! I smoked for 40 years - if I can, you can! Here is my very first blog written a few days after I quit. I had come here and lurked for a while before posting. I think I wanted to be sure it was going to work before telling the world.
“Hello. This is my first posting. I am on the beginning of my third day quit. I still can't quite beleive I am here. I am 59 years old and I have quit after 40 years of a pack a day. I am using Bupropion - but, decided to go the semi-cold turkey way and not use Nicorette. It has been tough - can't sugar coat that. However, given that this is my first time quitting and I know I can make it - I can make it through the tough parts! I think I always knew that once I decided I wanted to quit - I could do it. (I quit drinking 29 years ago.) I lurked on here for quite some time before quitting. I also read everything I could find on other sites - including at "WhyQuit" and "QuitSmokingOnline". Then I read Allen Carr's book. Amazing - how it all clicked in my head!! Thank you all for the postings that have inspired and helped me get to this point! Kathy. I have been quit for 2 Days, 11 hours and 33 minutes (2 days). My Quit Date: 6/12/2010 10:30 PM”
Having 2 days at that point was amazing - and now, 12 years later, it is still the most amazing thing! Happy anniversary to all the quitters here - whether you are celebrating 1 day or many, many years! Thanks to all of my EX friends!
Kathy
