Good Morning Everyone

Today marks 28 days since I quit.  I am not big on wirting posts but I am big on reading everyone else's and learning how to get through this journey succesfully.

I feel great but I am still very cautious and very aware of my triggers. I have found that all of things that annoyed me before as a smoker, well...they annoy me now.  It is how I handle it, that is the difference.  I laugh a lot...it helps (thanks Dale).  I also make a decision when those triggers come up not to give in, not to smoke.  It really is that right? The decision not to do it.   It seems so simple but really in the beginning it wasn’t.  But you all told me, it really is a simple practice and practicing makes it better and easier.  So if you are new and are not big on blogging, like me, at least get on here and read, read, read and spend time absorbing the information all of these wonderful people have to offer.

A question for the ladies...or the guys.  Has anyone noticed an improvement in the appearance of their skin?  I have had several people make mention of how I look refreshed and younger and that my skin is "glowing".  Even my husband pointed it out.  I was not paying attention but I really did look and yes, I find that I just look healthier.   A great side effect and another reason to stay quit.  Anyone else experiencing this?

Yes I have experienced this when I have quit, my girlfriend would tell me that my lips looked pinkier and that my skin was glowing like you said too. She also said that my eyes looked clearer too. Well I'm supposed to quit today and this is one of many times and I hope it is my last because I am tired of being a smoker. Congrats on your 28 days.

Good for You!

It takes time to undo/unlearn what we are used to doing.

Congrats on 28 days! I wish I can say my skin has improved but I still have the same crappy skin from when I quit about 3 months ago. Lol

Yes, it does take time, like Dale said to relearn or unlearn, and then learn.  What I have discovered is that I have been given some control or management of whether I smoke.  I also I am gaining some manageability over other areas of my life.  Some of those are the reasons I smoked in the first place.

However, I think there is a balance between being overly vigilant maintaining my quit and surrendering to the process and enjoying being smoke free.

It feels good to be able to be around smokers or take the trash out at work and not have to smoke.  With less anxiety the thoughts of smoking float by easier.  But, I have to continue to really work hard to slow down or stay in the moment because that helps me not get to wanting to smoke.  Also, it just helps my life be enjoyable.

Keep up the good work and stay connected here.  Continuing to stay plugged in here is very important to me.  I need to listen to my own advice more and bookend my days here.
