Hi Smoke-Free Friends,

I hope all of you are loving smoke free living.  July 25th will be 90 days for me.  I'm happy that I'm not a smoker anymore, after 20 years of smoking.  Now I'm working on losing some weight, & getting fit for the new me.  This is a struggle, something that I'm doing by myself, with friends from this site & my smoking class at the community clinic.  I really want to be a better person soon!  How many people feel that this is a hard struggle, but a worth while one? How many of you feel like you're alone in this?  I want to hear what you all think & feel. Thank you for your time.

I love my smoke free life!  Going on 30 days this Thursday!  I smoked for 25 years and this is the longest I have quit, ever....Prior to now, the most I would stay quit was 12 days, so this is huge for me!  In regard to the weight thing, I was super scared of gaining weight while quitting, so I actually went on a diet two weeks before I quit, made myself stick to a menu and a certain number of calories a day and got into the habit of working out prior to the quit.  Well, apparently it worked because I actually lost 15 lbs since quitting!  Which is not normal...What helped was the fact that I started losing prior to my quit, was so motivated to lose the rest that I would just pound water or jump on the ground and do push ups or crunches whenever I had a craving instead of running to the kitchen and munching out.  I feel so much better now that I can breath....So I now weigh what I did when I was in my twenties, can breath and have a ton more energy....There is no way I am going back to the death sticks!  I am done!

Butterfly, it 's nice to see you and hear that you are quit for 90 Days!  Good for you!  Would you consider posting  blogs more often?  I think you will find you are not alone at all.  We are all in this together and we'd love to hear from you more often!

For me the quit gets more lonely as time goes on.  I think its because everybody around you acts like your smoke free life is a given and you don't need the support anymore....false assumption.  Bonnie is right.  This site isn't just for newbies.  It's for people who have six months, 1 year, 2 years or more under their belt.  Keep writing and stay strong, butterfly!

Thank you for the post. I am going on 4/5 days on my quit. I know physically the nicotine is gone but I am re-learning life without smokes. I don't want to do to much at one time...lol. I admire folks like Tracy that can diet and quit smoking! Wow..That is amazing to me! I am hanging in there and trying to stay quit day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute! Good luck to you and thanks again for the post!

People here keep you from feeling alone! But the truth is that you are alone. You can not be with someone 24 hours a day! When you are alone it comes down to personal integrity. Did you make a comittment to yourself? Do you have the courage and integrity to honor that comittment? Be proud of yourself!! Pride will take you anywhere you want to go!

Congrats on your upcoming 90 day milestone! I am proud of you! You be proud of you too!

Quitting does feel like something you do alone.  This website helped me because I could read the blogs and comments and identify with what other people were feeling or going through.  Cheering each other on when we reached milestones helped me too.  But all in all it is a solitary thing we do when we quit.   You are coming up on three months soon - you are doing great,,,,,Congratulations!!

Hey congrats to you, pushing toward 100 days, no easy chore. I am always behind reading the blogs. I remember you from the Ohio group.

It is always good to read about a success story on here and you are one of them WTG
