I smoked.  I can't believe I did it.  I had terrible cravings and thought, if I could just have one, I'd be better.  Almost a pack later, I don't feel better... I feel stupid.  I threw away close to TWO days without cigarettes.  TWO days.  Also, I feel like I've let all of you who have been cheering for me, down.  I am almost afraid of posting this ~ I feel so shameful.  But, I am resetting my clock, and as of 3pm this afternoon, I am recomitting to quitting and starting again.  Nicotine may have won this battle, but it WILL NOT win the war.

Hear!  Hear!

I second everything Kris just said.  Don't waste time and energy being mad at yourself (although keeping the memory of howl ousy youi feel in the back of your head isn't a bad idea for future cravings!)

The important thing here is that you learn from this!  What triggered it?  What were you thinking?  Remember, you must be 100% committed to this!!!

I also wonder how hard it must have been to get your hands on that cigarette?  If you are 100% committed to this - there shouldn't be ANY cigarettes in your environment because there is no REASON to keep them if you are NOT going to smoke again!!!!!!

Learn from this what you need and move on.

You CAN do this!  You CAN!

Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get back on the horse!  We're here for you!

2 days wasn't enough to get through withdrawal. Stay the course -- view it as a rite of passage. It WILL get easier but only if you complete the process. You can do this!

Get mad at it.

It beat your butt today but if you get mad enough you can show yourself the way through.

Hi.  Keep trying!  I started quitting last Tuesday and caved in Sunday morning and had two cigarettes.  I decided they really didn't do that much for me and put the patch back on and I've been ok.  I want a cigarette but want to be free more - at least that is how I feel right now.  keep trying.  Good luck.

Here's an idea: go to the CDC's website and watch some of those videos of people who have had heart attacks, strokes, cancers, etc. It was those videos that put quitting in my head a few months ago. I didn't want to be one of those people with a stoma and half a face and I don't think you do either. Its very frightening to think about. Next time your THISCLOSE to caving, hit that site and recall why you're doing this.
