My name is Terry and I have 350 days of freedom today.

I quit because I found that I hated smoking

My VA doctor helped me,this site helped me

My strength came from not wanting to let anyone down. I could never face all my friends here if I slipped up

I spend my time  doing more things I like with my new found extra time

Everyone enjoy the ride today

I worried about my husbands health because he smoked as well and decided to quit because of his health, he's got 2 and a half months longer in anyway then a specialist set up a breathing test for me and I found out that I have copd so here I am with 412 DOF and counting, congratulations to everyone on your wonderful quits.

My name is Amanda and I have 27 days of freedom today. I quit because I didn't want to be a smoker any longer. I wanted to change my life. And I am making good progress so far! What's helped me the most? (1) meditation (2) yoga (3) people on this site (4) nicotine lozenges. Whoot!

My name is Ellen and I have not smoked in 588 days.  I had pneumonia when I quit and I have debilitating COPD now, I work out every day and eat right and do everything I can to take care of myself but I smoked for 47 years and I did a LOT of damage.  I do not regret quitting at ALL!

Hi My Name is Maggie(Mag)

Over two years ago I woke up one morning and said I am done. Over two years prior I had been buying patches for one day to come when I was going to quit and they kept expiring and I would buy more!!

In my mind I would say I should quit, I really should. So two weeks prior I went to the Dr.for a physical and one of the nurses I kinda knew said has Dr. been on you to quit smoking, yes yes, yes. she also smoked and she told me about a stop smoking group she was going to. I told here i would give it a try and I did. On the information sheets of the group were recommended sites to visit on line to help you out. Thats how I found this site and have stayed close ever since and kept going forward.  The group I attended at first , I went back on my 1 year anniversary and shared my journey with them with the hopes of helping someone in the group and incouraging them that they all could do it.. I am thankful for this site and all the help that people have given me here!! I am so happy to have quit  and feel so good without the addiction. Life is good

I quit because I was tired of being badgered about it.  I quit for Lent.  I made a promise to Him because I knew I would keep it.  I allowed myself permission to smoke thereafter knowing full well that after 40 days smoke free I would never have another Day One.  And I haven't since March 1, 2006.  The permissin to smoke was a psychological tool that took the edge off the hard part of the journey.  There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that if I take one puff of a cigarette I will be back to smoking just as I was, probably for the rest of my life.  I no longer give myself permission to smoke.  The Option Door is closed, locked and the key thrown away.  Day 3469.  Day Won - Never Another Day One!

Kudos to all riders today.  The tracks gleam with your fortitude!

My name is Carol and I quit 95 days ago.  I went to my doctor in early May after many years of avoiding the Dr.  I promised myself that if the routine testing didn't show anything  horrible(i.e. cancer), I would quit smoking. So I got a script for chantix and on May 27, 2015 I took my last puff.  This web site is without a doubt the #1thing that has kept me smoke free.  Also the commitment and promise that I made to myself!  In my new life, I spend alot more time playing with and walking with my two beloved dogs.  CP

Hopping on late with 29 DOF behind me.  I believe I've got 4 years worth of attempting to quit smoking cigarettes, the latter years I've been with EX.  Besides for the wealth of information and support from the participants on the site I would have to say jonescarp aka dale was the elder I connected most with.  I find working my program daily here on EX keeps my quit in check.  I feel accountable.  Hooray for everyone riding today's Train!!  Toot toot!!

My name is Shawn and I've been quit for over 3 years. Doctors, for years, wanted me to quit cause of chronic problems with sinuses and bronchitis. I was too stubborn to do what they wanted me to do until I filled out a survey on smoking which led me to this site for help. I was borderline on quitting at that time but by some people that kept in touch with me, Sheryl, Rickie and Tommy, i decided to give it a try.  I studied and learned everything i could on my addiction and then set a quit date. I never took one puff after that day, no matter what events happened in my life. To remain smoke free, i stay close to this site and help others to freedom when i can.

Hi My Name is Terrie, I have 55 days quit. I quit the first time on May 13 because my doctors weren't wanting to keep giving me antibiotics and steroids, because I wan't trying to help myself by quit smoking. I was  unprepared and ony made it 5 days. I had been and still was sick for 6 months with cough and cold, bronchitis. So I came online and found EX by just type in no smoking or something like that. This time I set the quit date and followed the directions EXactly. Blogging, reading, commenting, and writing blogs. I listened to you and took it all to heart! Yes a couple my feelings got hurt (in the very begining). But I was learning not to smoke so It Was so worth It. The best reading I had Was Allen Carr's "The Easy way to quit smoking" I know It's early in my quit. But I feel sure that this is it. And day one is won and I won't be doing that over.

Terrie quit 07-06-2015

Congratulations to every one of your quits!

God grant me a vacation, to make bearable what I can't change.A friend to make it funny, and the wisdom to never get my knickers in a knot, because it solves nothing and makes me walk funny!

I read everyone's comments.....very inspiring, funny, charming.

I have 817 days of quit behind me.  And I was able to quit because someone said, "It isn't rocket science".  For whatever reason, that stuck.  All I had to do was NOT smoke.  Curing cancer?  I couldn't do that.  Be a math teacher?  I couldn't do that.  But I could quit.  So I did.  And I didn't want my kids to suffer through any crankiness on my part so I learned to be happy while I quit.  Sounds simple but for me, it was.
