Four Days on the Path

Today I was as unsettled as the weather, going through hours of frequent urges to smoke followed by periods of calm.  Minor discomfort.  A cold front is coming in, which for here means going down from 80 to  the mid-60s with the possibility of a high 50's day before it warms back up into the 70s.  Not that I would trade the deep winter temps here for anywhere else, but I'm originally a New England girl whose favorite season is fall, so a dip below the 80s can't come soon enough for me.

So I'm looking forward to a happier day tomorrow.  Once the storm passes through and the temperature drops I'll finally be able to get outside again and work in the yard and garden.  That will be a joy.  I think I have the Southern version of SADD--excessive heat and light in the summers get me down and winters cheer me up.

Anyway, forward to a new day.

I hear you.  I'm a New Englander at heart too and find the humid summers really hard to take here in middle Tennessee.  BUT - we get an extra month growing time on either end here and THAT I can't complain about.  And I love the sunshine.  Those New England endless grey winter days that begin in Oct. and last through April, the snow plow getting stuck in our driveway, the heating bills - don't miss any of that.

It's all about perspective.  Just like with quitting.  Dwell on the good parts.  Nay, FIGHT for the good parts.  Turn away from the cravings.  You'll become more adept at it as you go along.  Hang in!

Not sure where you are - here in North Carolina it is mid 60's....but it is always up, down and all over the place this time of year! At least we aren't in the 80's!

Congrats on your quit! You are so right - "minor discomfort" - I chose to consider it like having the flu or a cold for a while....this too shall pass! Trust me! And the glory of the freedom will be so worth it!

Never forget our motto around here - N.O.P.E. - Not One Puff Ever!

If you need any additional instructional material - I really like the free course at quitsmokingonline.com

Four days is fantastic! I can't really relate to the whole weather thing, summer can't come soon enough for me. But whatever the weather, we don't have to go out and smoke in it, yay!

Welcome to Ex  !

Day 4 GRRRRRReat !!!!!!

I Think the first 3 days are the hardest then it kind of levels off and you get more used to the craves and how to deal with them. Keep your thoughts positive evertime a negative thought about your quit passes through your mind be sure to hsut it out with a positive affirmation For me just sayingto myself " I don't do that anymore " and then thinking what can I do instead and finding that thing to do whether it be a stick of gum , candy ,a straw to chew on , deep breathing a cup of coffee or tea whatever do it !!!

I used the Patch which helped me a lot are you using an NRT or going cold turkey ?

I am a New England lady and I am sick and tired of the winters here !!! I would love to trade places ! 🙂
