Share your quitting journey
It's late at night - or not - could be the middle of the day - and you don't give a crap any more about your quit. You've fought and fought to remain true and you're tired and SO WHAT??!! That smoke, that cigarette will alleviate the pain you're feeling, right? It will give you the comfort you need. At this moment. It won't solve the problem, the REASON for the pain, but it will give you SOME form of comfort. That comfort you so desperately need. It will fill that empty space in your gut that's been aching ever since you quit.
Yeah. It will. For about 5 minutes. And then that empty space will be right back. But before you go back to another Day One, I want you to think this thing through. Really think it through, not just act on the emotional, gut response. That's just the addiction speaking. Act solely on that - and you remain a slave. Which you don't have to be. Act solely on that, and you're back to another Day One which you don't have to be either. It's a choice. Really. A choice.
Think. Use what's between your ears. It's there to help you!
OK, I can picture being in an emotional place where nothing matters. "I don't care if I live or die. Preferably the latter". But - yet - there is this little thing within us that...wants to choose the best for us. And it's simply undeniable. That's why you came here in the first place. Isn't it? Isn't that why you're here? Isn't that why you quit? Isn't that the BEST OF YOU that's been whispering and then shouting to you?
Follow that voice. Not the other one. That needy whiny other one. That other one will only lead you to failure in your quit and back to another Day One. THINK - before you choose to give up your quit. THINK before you give up on everything you've fought so hard for during the days - however many you have on your quit clock (because every day smoke free is one that has been earned, not given). EVERY day is precious. Every day costs us something, yes, but gives us an equal if not greater reward. Even if you don't know that right now - Hang in long enough and you will understand that. Really you will.
THINK. Just - THINK.
