First day - so far so good

So I am almost through my first day without cigs.  While I have had a few times when I'm like yeah I really want a cig, I've managed to get through them  I planned to quit on a work day so I knew I would be busy.  I have a great friend at work; every time I wanted a cig I went to see her and she told me a "story" until my craving had passed.  She is awesome and I'm very lucky to know her.

I think the most important thing to me is to have people who support me.  I have my boyfriend, daughters, friends at work and all of you on this website.

I have done well so far today.  I don't know what tomorrow will bring; it may be harder than today, but I'm up for it.  I am really liking not smoking, being a non-smoker, not having to go to the store to buy cigs.  I don't feel deprived at all which is what brought me down every time before.  I feel free.  I'm using gum so I'm not free of nicotine, but I feel like that will come later.  For now, I've put away the cigs and they aren't enslaving me anymore at least not today and if I have my way not tomorrow either.  I'm going with one section of my day at a time.  It seems to be working today.  I get up in the morining and I don't smoke during my morning routine.  I get in the car to drive to work, I listen to the radio, I plug in my ipod, I sing.  I don't smoke.  I go to work, don't smoke at 10:30, don't smoke on my lunch hour, don't smoke at 2, 3, 4.  I drive home from work, don't smoke, I sing instead lol - good thing no one hears me.  I get home, I do my after work things, don't smoke, I make dinner, don't smoke while I'm making it.  We eat.  I don't smoke after dinner.  I grab my boyfriend and say you need to kiss me cuz I want a cig but a kiss would be better.  He happily complied.  Lol.  I don't know why but I'm not having that hard of a time today. I've even had a glass of wine and I'm fine, although in my case, I've always noticed alcohol decreases my need to smoke.  Kind of like if I take night time cold medicine, it keeps me awake.

So I will be in bed in less than two hours.  After smoking for 32 years, I've gone smoke free for one day!  that's huge to me and my girls.  And my boyfriend.

Tomorrow's my first smoke free birthday in 22 years!
