Hello.  My name is Tony and I have not had a ciagrette in 43 days.  Half of that time was at home on break from OSU.  The other half has been here at OSU.  The way I am quitting is by making a bet with one of my co-workers.  Granted, it's only $20 but it's still an incentive to me.  Money is money to a college student.  A lot of my co-workers smoke and I would smoke with them so it's weird having them go out and smoke without me.  I have had cravings some bad cravings while at work but have worked through them.

Good for you Tony!  You've got an awesome quit going - keep it up and remember to protect it at all times.

Not related but non the less important - please consider filling in sosme info about yourself on your profile - your previous smoking habit for sure. How much, how long, stuff like that.  That will make it so much easier for members to respond to your blogs and messages. Thanks!

Have a great smoke free night!

Maggie:  Thank you very much.  I have had the urge to relapse but I've stayed strong.  I will definitely add some of that info to my profile.

Ellen:  It is not a trial run quit or just for fun.  I am serious about this.  I have tried to quit before and had no will to do so.  I have seen one of my co-workers try to quit more times than I can remember.  I am just using the incentive of that bet to stay quit.

Usually when we talk about gaining money from quitting, it's not this way. lol  Seriously though, whatever reason gets you here, it is the beginning of a lifelong journey, one that's truly worth the trip.  43 days is an awesome start!!!  Whoot Whoot Whoot!!!

Yeah, I understand.  I calculated that I would have smoked around 250 cigarettes and have saved around $75.60 just from quitting.  The $20 bet is just a way for me to stay on path until it gets easier for me.

Thank you both!  I am really glad I decided to come on this website.  It's amazing the stuff I am hearing from people.  I smoked for just over a year, tried to quit 3 times and failed after a few days.  I didn't have an incentive and I don't feel that I actually wanted to quit those times.  This time, I do.  Though those first few weeks, that $20 was the only thing that pervented me from smoking.

Motivation is found unusual places and methods! Often the small things mean the most. like your $20 bet.  I will be 1 year smoke free on Feb. 14 and what helped motivate me to quit was the cost of cigs.  I felt so stupid to be spending that kind of money on something that not only did me no good but in fact was doing harm.  And after I quit the cash accumulating in the bank was a daily inspiration.

Hey whatever works!  Keep it up!

Peace and Love!

I know!  It's amazing how much money I have saved just from not smoking!  I did the calculation last night and it's close to $80 from 44 days of being smoke free.  It feels great!
