Even After A Year...

I was out and my warning light came on for low tire pressure.   Had to call road service to change my tire, etc.   Being frustrated I guess, the first thing that entered my mind was "needing" a cigarette.  But I made it home, wasn't stranded, looks repairable, and I can get it fixed tomorrow.  I don't even have to go to work tomorrow since I'm retired.  So all is good.  But, that old feeling surfaces, that smoking is going to fix all this.

Almost nine years, and I still, on occasion, get that sudden urge.  That is the power of our addiction, no doubt.

Happy Sunday to you!

I've always called those things phantom craves because the only power they really hold over us is the power that our minds give them, and obviously you chose not to give it any power! Good job and an important reminder for all on the road to freedom.

ONWARD TO FREEDOM!!!

They are just thoughts that we learn not to act on.  That is the beauty of being free and free indeed.  NOPE no matter what will keep you free.

Barb...this journey is always keeping vigilant...and you had the thoughts but you didn’t act on them...that makes you so much stronger than Nico...Hope all works out with the tire.  Is that a picture of Charley (the bigger one)...? So cute ... ~ Colleen 153 DOF

Yup.  That old monster rears it's head every once in a while.  Even for me after 13 years.  I just nod and say "hello," and then "GOODBYE!"  Remember when it used to be a constant thought?!!!  We've come a long way baby!

Good for you Barb!!  NOPE. Thank for letting me know that after a year I’m not crazy, at least not about this.  It happens with stress to me too. Thank you too Giulia for reminding us it’s a battle we must fight, no matter how many years. We must always protect this ver hard earned quit!

I think that those "phantom" craves will always be with us...each time we feel one and move on, we have done it again.  We have taken our rightful place controlling our OWN lives,  Congratulations, Barb.

Yep sometimes that thought wants to play with me also when I am really mad but I know how to handle it now. Congratulations on handling this situation without a smoke.

They sure come out of the blue sometimes! Luckily you have N.O.P.E. engrained just as much and know that a sickerette will make it all worse - not better! Great Quit - Great Message!
