Epiphany....

My quit started 2/10/10.  I'm almost to 72 hours.

I told my mom I quit smoking.  She's a recovering alcoholic for 26 years, and a non-smoker for 10 or so....  So she knows a little bit.  🙂  She said that I have about 4 more days than I'll be over the worse of it... I hope so.  My hope is the wellbutrin will help as well.  It's been good so far.  Not that I haven't been edgy or irritable, cuz I have, but not as bad as last time.

I have finally found an acceptable substitute... Jolly Ranchers.  They take a long time to dissolve in your mouth and keeps your mouth busy.  Much better than Life Savers and doesn't make my jaw hurt, like gum.  I was chewing so hard yesterday, I was afraid I had cracked teeth or worse... but it's all good now.

Hubby did quit this morning!  As far as I know, he hasn't had one.  *And after the outburst he just had with our son, I believe him.*  He's only doing Chantax, which is fine, but he didn't really work up to this.  He just stopped.  This is gonna be interesting.

Anyway, my epiphany....  I CAN DO THIS!!!!  Admittedly, it's not a remarkable one, but it's enough for me!   I've got a few things still to work on, but the big ones have been conquered!!  And I have this site and all my new ex's to thank for that!!!

Thank you to everyone for cheering me on!  I hope someday to cheer a future ex on too.

Youre so right, you CAN do this!! Its both simple and excrutiatingly hard at times.. just dont smoke. ( i really hate when people say that to me LOL) If youre at 72 hours, your mom is right.. the hardest part is almost over. The first week truly sucks, but it does get better little by little. I think it would be better if it got noticeably better day by day, but one day youll just suddenly realize that a change has happened.. I cant wait for you to experience more of these changes. Your body is withdrawing so hard right now you may not notice it, but your body has already made wonderful changes toward healing. Keep It Up! Three Days is wonderful, congratulations!

Hooray for Jolly Ranchers!  That's fantastic!  You are so lucky to have such a supportive mother.  You can do this because you're getting great support.  There's lots of people that love you and are rooting for you!

Hooray for the Jolly Ranchers. I personally prefer cinnamon balls by Brach, but to each his own. You get the working up to it and your husband doesn't, but different strokes, etc. Work your own deal and let him deal with his stuff. My husband quit years ago and was such a nasty person that I never wanted to do that. By working the stuff, I am retreating from the rest of my old world for a while, but it works for me. Keep it up!
