Nick, decision and determination is what you need! You can do this!

@Sheryl: I wasn't paying attention and didn't do my "before you quit" work. It's pretty dang silly, but ultimately, I think I got a little cocky after making for 10 hours without one.

@jojo: Thanks. Encouragement is always good, I think I'm finding there's a circle of negativity with slip-ups. I'm going to do this. Going from a pack/day to 3 yesterday, this morning felt a TON better =D

Nick: Make sure you don't set yourself up for failure.  If you have any cigarettes around, get rid of them.  And if you don't smoke, that means you don't buy them or bum them, either -- right?  As far as doing the homework, reading on this site and www.whyquit.com and http://quitsmokingonline.com may help you get through the craves.  And if you need support, post a "Help!" blog here before you light up and wait 15 mins. for response.  Someone is usually around to help.

Thanks Sheryl. Yeah, apparently I didn't get rid of all of them. Phone rang, I answered it, and without even thinking I reached into my pocket grabbed one (there were 3 in there) and lit it. DOH!

Thanks for the tip about posting a help on the blog.

Hey Nick. Drinking is a quit killer too.

You can do this Nick.  Get rid of all cigarettes from every hiding place you ever had.

Did you read Allen Carr's Easy way to quit?  It helped me tremendously!  I quit without planning anything.  I just quit. I was sick of it after 15 years and quit.  I found this site on Day 2 or 3 and got the help I needed to get through.  Education is key.  Go to the sites Cheryl listed, read Allen Carr's book (can be found on Aztec's page along with A LOT of other great info).  We are here for you!  You got this! 🙂

Hi Nick, you can do this!  Preparation and education is SO important -- this addiction is a sneaky, subversive, manipulative thing and you need to understand it before you can defeat it. Here are two of the resources many of our members have used:

www.quitsmokingonline.com

http://digg.com/news/lifestyle/Allen_Carr_s_Easy_Way_To_Stop_Smoking_Download_free_PDF

Reset yourself -- recommit, and get ready for round 2. Your addiction won round 1, now it's time to show it who's the boss. You can do this!

Nick,  Read the Allen Carr book and have a posititve attitude.  You can do it.  Be in charge of your quit.  Dont let it be in charge of you.  NOPE.  Not One Puff Ever.  Enjoy the freedom.
