Entering Week 3

In a few hours I will have made it 14 days without a cigarette. That is nearly 1/2 a month. To be honest, it hasn't been that bad. Maybe I am just ready to be done with smoking.

I've been using Chantix, which has been incredibly useful in reducing my desire to smoke. It does nothing for the cravings but at least I know that if I were to break down and smoke, I would get zero pleasure out of it. Mentally, that's all I need to know to keep me good.

Over the course of week 2 I noticed the following:
* hyper-awareness of other people's smoking. By this I mean, one of my student's parents smoke. I could smell it on his clothing. Amazing.

* less munchy. Thank God my appetite has started to return to normal. Otherwise I might have another problem on my hands. In the first weeks I was lax and let myself have whatever I wanted - food wise - so that I would not reach for a smoke. Now I am getting back to my old eating patterns.

* My singing range is increasing! Back in the day I was able to sing Soprano I (high, high). Smoking had lowered my singing range down to an Alto (mid-range). I am slowly being able to hit the high notes again! Yeah!

* Much improved sense of smell, in general. I am noticing all kinds of smells in my environment. Perfume smells stronger, etc. Along the same line - my hair smells WONDERFUL. No more smoke. 🙂

* The dark circles under my eyes, that I cover up with makeup, are lightening. From what I understand, they form from a lack of oxygen (from smoking!). My blood is getting the oxygen it needs now and it is showing, physically.

Guess that is it for now. Best of luck to all!! Keep strong!
