it is important to follow the directions that come with the patches... i used the patch and i was a little scared at first too.. i had two friends that died from heartattacks while using the patch and still feel that it was because they smoked while using them...

the patch is an aid to get you through the withdraws...nothing else.. you have to do the work..

the patch is a very useful tool and yes it does work but dont play around with it it is a medication and can be dangerous if not used correctly...

at first you will still get cravings because you are lowering the dosage of nicotine what i used to do was drink some water and sometimes just rub the patch cause it itched anyway...once your body adjusts to the lower doseage fo nicotine you wont crae as much...

but be careful about lowering to another lower dosage patch... until you are ready... cause you will start craving again..

drink alot of water and get alot of rest..welcome to become an ex

They helped me..Believe this or not....there were days I would forget to put one on......the time I failed with them is when I got over confident and said "I gpt this" So my advice is stick to the program and stay involved here.

One side effect I had was crazy dreams, but they pass.....never give up your quit.....

I used them-I got a rash from the 21 mg ones. It itched a little went away in a couple of days .it stopped when I went down to the 14mg. I think they helped- you will still have cravings but everyone is different.  I think it took the edge off a little for me.Just follow the directions and pay attention to how you feel and use common sense. Do not smoke if you use them because you can OD on nicotine.

They help - but you still have to put the real effort in.  I used the patch for 6 weeks - the only side effect that I had was they irritated my skin.

I hope you have done the recommended readings?  They will help you understand just what NRT's do for you and the differences in them.  I hope you have also started the tracking and putting each cigarette off a bit as recommended here on the site.

Lots of people have used  patches  - some with no problems.  Everybody is different.  I know quite a few had to take them off at night to prevent vivid, wild dreams and that seemed to work.  I would just try them and see what happens.  I do know you have to move the location with every one.

I think they ASSIST with your quit. You and your brain have to be the ones to quit. I used them and they definitely took the edge off. Like others have said, they did give me weird dreams at night but in the beginning I wore them all night anyways because I was afraid I would smoke in the morning if I did not have it on. It also felt great the days I would forget to put them on!

And all I will say is "you can use them or they can use you."

People who use tha patch as directed go back to smoking at the same rate as everybody else at 6 months.

I used them 10 days of my first two weeks and when I forgot 2 days in a row, I knew I didn't need them.

They won't quit for you and they won;t stop you from thinking of smoking at all daily smoking times, that is the psychlogical part and that is what must be unlearned.

I tried patches, gum, losenge, and e-cig. Nothing worked! I came here and followed all directions and suggestions, during the 2 weeks while I waited for my quit date. I tracked and monitored my triggers. I thought I would use gum (only) this time. When the day came, I was so prepared,I didn't need the gum. I now have 234 days free. I promised myself daily that I wouldn't smoke no matter what happens. and then I keep 'em out of my Mouth! The more days you get the easier it gets!

I Won't Quit on my Quit!

I used patches/gum and didn't smoke for 4.5mths. As soon as things get stressful enough, it was super easy to pick them sickerettes again. For me, I was getting my fix of nicotine all along. I used to think the cold turkey idea was crazy. The more I read about the 72 hours and the nicotine is out of our system,(the rest is in our habits and in our heads). That's Cats' short version. Where you are ready, I mean really ready, you will jump. I have 55 days, no nicotine of any kind. This is my strongest quit. They say it only takes 2 things. 1. Make the decision, and 2. Do not doubt your decision. One puff, one cigt will start the cycle all over again. Everyone is different. Do what works for you, just do something to move in the smokefree direction. Read, Read, Read, Blog, Blog, Our community makes all the difference, Stay close. I found Allen Carr Videos on googleplay for android, That helped me also.

Yes, please stick with it. You have to want it to work, but after smoking for 30 some years my final quit was coming here and using the patch.

Follow the plan and don't give up, we are all here for you.

giving yourself permission to smoke and then having a puff is a slip up.

Uh... "thought about having a slip up..."  taking one drag IS a slip up - so where are we today in this quitting process?  Thinking about a "slip?"  Taking action on it?  Or remaining true to your commitment?

If "slips" are a part of your mental vocabulary - let alone your physical reality by taking a puff - how exactly do you expect to remain smoke free no matter what?  What is it you don't understand about the Not One Puff Ever Doctrine we preach here?  And why is a "slip" ok for you on this journey?  Just curious.  How exactly do these "slips" help you overcome this addiction?  None of us long-term quitters ever ultimately learned how to remain smoke free by allowance for "slips."  Oh, but, I see, you "thought" of having a slip, but only smoked one drag and then you didn't like the taste and put it out immediately,  so that wasn't a "slip" in your addicted mindset  right?

It was - in most of our minds who have "been there, done that."  But this is my opinion only.  And as we also say here - take what you like and leave  the rest.
