Happy Sunday everyone!

Congrats to everyone of you on your quits!

Hang in there even if you relapse.

I was 59 when I quite. Turned 60 this past summer. I have 6 months and 1 week under my belt (I think partly due to my stuborn nature). I work at a hi stress job. I still have the odd strong urge that I want one. I could just pinch myself when I think that. Now, I just think of how bad my withdrawals were and they were. It was not pretty. I also thought I just want to try one. See what that would do. Not addicted? Sure was. I postively know that if I have even one puff I would be well to on my way back to smoking and most likely never looking back. I remember all the reasons I had for smoking. Many. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved to smoke (addiction). As the years went by I smoked more daily. I was then up to about a pack plus per day. As I aged my reason was we are all going to die of something. Might as well die of smoking as I enjoy it. There are worse addictions. It relaxes me. It relieves my stress. My grandfather smoked and lived to be over 90. I smoke low tar/nicotine cigarettes. Bottom line I was big time addicted. I could go no where without my smokes. I could no nothing without my smokes. When I went out to eat I would always look for a table close to an exit so I could smoke. I would then only stay at hotels that allowed smoking. I still stuggle a little at times but it has been way better. I may never loose the want but I just know that I must continue on my smoke free journey. My story is simple, started smoking in high school. I have read many blogs with some devastating storys. I can't say I could not relapse. I think I gained a little weight. I had a candy instead of a smoke. Size 3 now, I think, but that is an easy fix. What ever the triggers are just run the other way. May we all find the power that we have within us to stay smoke free!
