Did you know that getting Robbed makes you want to smoke?!?!

I have a very heavy heart today. I lost something yesterday, well my family lost something yesterday. While we were at work, our home was robbed. It wasn't a random burglar, it was someone who was able to get past the dogs because they knew this person. It was someone who knew where we kept money and valuables, what hiding place in our bedroom they were in. Then on the way out, they took my computer and the kindle I got for Christmas. If it was just a random burglar, our other valuables would not have been left untouched.

This is a very trying time for me and my family and it's not just because stuff was taken, because stuff can be replaced. Yes, it sucks and will cost $$ we don't have, but it can be replaced. What cannot be replaced, what was ripped from me and my family is the sense of security in our own home. The place that we are supposed to feel safe at. The place where you can leave your damn kindle on the kitchen table because it will be there when you get back. And all this was stolen for what? A few bucks and electronics. And to KNOW that it was someone we know, we trusted, we invited into our home and supported and cared for. That type of betrayal is beyond reproach.

OMG, I am so sorry to hear about this...that's just awful.

Do you know who it was? I hope the police can help you get your sense of security and justice back.

I am so sorry this happened to you.  I know how you feel because it happened to me. DVDs, a computer, tv, and cash stash were stolen by someone we'd welcomed and cared about very much. We'd trusted him in our home and in our hearts. Its devistating and changes something inside of you. Again, I'm so sorry you're having to go through this.

Congratulations for not smoking!! Don't let the addiction use this to get its hooks back into you. Keep your control over it. You can do it.

We have a pretty good idea who it was and gave that info over to the police.  Instead of going to his house, they called him up, told him what happened and that they would like him to come in for questioning on his own accord.  SMH  Yeah, lets tip off the suspect so he can ditch the stuff right away.  So needless to say, we probalby wont get anything back.  On a positive note, I called Kindle and told them what happened and they deactiviated the kindle, stripped my accoutn off of it and have flagged it as stolen so if anyone tries to register it, they will not be able to .  You cannot use it until it is registered, so they can't even try to surf the net!! It's useless to them.  That makes me feel a bit better.  But still, what was taken from my spirit cannot be replaced.  I want to punch him in the nose!

poor thing! I feel for you......it's happened to me twice before, except I have no idea who it was. this is, however, a fact of life.....maybe you should consider an inexpensive alarm system......if anything it's worth the peace of mind. at least you've kept your quit. that's something nobody can take.....good luck to you...

I am so very sorry and yes its takes our sense of security away.  It has happen to me twice(different homes) and it feels awful.  I wish the police had brought him in to questioned him.

Good job on protecting your quit.

This just makes me very sad for you and others in which this horrible crime has been committed against.  So proud of you for protecting your quit.

This is awful.  And to think it was someone you know.  I don't know why the police do what they do.  You are doing marvelous with your quit by not smoking over this.  Seems like "tests" like these come along, and if we don't smoke, it really helps to cement our resolve, and show us what we are really capable of!

A month into my quit, someone  drove into  my car as it sat parked in front of my house.  I heard the crash and ran out.  I watched them drive away.  My son got a description of the car.  The police came 22 hours later.  Yeah, that car was hidden away that very night and I'm sure had body work and a paint job before it ever saw the light of day again. We still haven't fixed it.  2,500 dollars worth of damage.  No collision on the car, so it's our loss.

Yeah, I am so glad I didn't smoke that night, but it sure did cross my mind.

Amber, I am very sorry for all your possesions being taken from you. I had someone I knew or thought I knew set my apartment up for robbery. It was truly a violation of my personal space and it took me a very long time to get over it. I thank God that nobody was home when this happened and therefore nobody got hurt..... I now have a home alarm...
