Depressed

I am very depressed for a recurring situation I will not go into. Whenever this happened before, I would chainsmoke. When I ran out, I'ld go out and buy a couple of packs. This time,  I have gritted my teeth, taken deep breaths, eaten, brushed my teeth, and ran in place, BUT I HAVE NOT HAD A CIGARETTE!!!!!!! I also realized that smoking didn't help me cope. I'll get through this situation( I have in the past) but this time without cigarettes.  Just coming here and writing is making feel better already.

I am a non-smoker. I no longer need or want cigarettes. I have quit smoking.

GOOD FOR YOU!  I am so proud of you.  You GET it this time!  Smoking will NOT do one thing to make the situation better or easier to manage.  It will only add disappointment in yourself to the mix.  You did well to come here and blog.

This quititude will take you far!. Don't forget you can also take slow, deep breaths; march in place (if running gets too strenuous!); go for a walk outside; let ice cubes melt in your mouth, yell into/pound on a pillow; play a computer game or come here and read, read and read some more.

You are DOING this.  Hang tough!

Way to go exsmokermom.

If you had smoked, you would had whatever the original problem is PLUS the depression of just having thrown away your quit. The cigarette, far from having helped, would have made things worse.

At least now, whatever other stress going on in your life, you can celebrate another day of not smoking. And that's something to celebrate!

Way to hang in there. Be very proud of yourself! There are many days that the only thing I can really feel I accomplished was "not smoking!" But I just remember what a HUGE accomplishment that is and smile. :).

Thank you, everyone. I needed the ego boost.

That's a good sign you are getting stronger. I'm finding out (for myself), the more hardships I handle without cigarettes, the stronger I feel. It sounds like it's happening to you too. SO GOOD 4 U!

That nagging urge to repeat a ritual WILL fade in time, I promise. And with you running in place (great!), your stomping will scare it right out of the house!

Head in the game, and eyes on the prize!

So proud of you.

Remember: one puff = one pack.

Say this out loud: I will not smoke today.

I am not so far quit but hold to quit so far by treating all craves and triggers as hurdles of success to be amazed that I didn't smoke!
