Day two...

I am a bit more alert today then yesterday... though I still feel quite tired, even with a good nights sleep.  I have decided to go exercise later this afternoon with a different class than I ususally do, just for a bit of variety.
I started playing solitare with real cards on a table, so I would have something to do with my hands.
Other cravings for food ... I feel hungry but I am not.  I drink water and I am fine.  I have been eating a healthy diet for a while now and I know that has helped a great deal.
I am going to succeed and I am going to make it through this (even if most of it spent sleeping)...

life goes on, no do overs, or start agains for me with this smoking business.
I hope that l everyone is doing well and GO NON SMOKERS and SOON to be NON SMOKERS!

Hi Wilk and welcome to Ex...this is where we hang out 24/7 so always post here! Here are some coping techniques and be SURE to do the reading that Strudel gave to you so you can better understand this addiction and how to beat it...

Stay close to this site and remember NOPE=Not One Puff Ever...and as long as you stick to this ONE SIMPLE rule, you will win....it the meantime, drink plenty of fresh cold water to rid your body of the toxins,6 smaller, nutritious meals throughout the day to keep your blood-sugar levels steady, (don't diet!)......and it will keep your blood sugar level and the low blood sugar induced fogginess and craves away.

....take big arm STRETCHES as often as needed to relax tense muscles and most importantly, take big DEEP BREATHS TO RELAX AND RELIEVE anger... take a nap, take walks, stay buzy with something you LIKE and brush you teeth immediately after each meal...stick your head in the freezer and DEEP BREATHE....If you bite into a lemon, the smoking thought will be gone instantly...try it, it works......Be prepared in advance for it,not surprised by it...Smoking thoughts only have power when you have fear. Face it head on and do not try to run or hide. You have the strength and power to tell it NO...You have the CHOICE to tell it NO.

the desire to eat is very common.

your blood sugar levels can go haywire when you quit and

smoking actually sped our metabolism by 200 calories per day.

cigarettes caused a dopamine release

eating causes a dopamine release.

then there is keeping your mouth busy and the hand to mouth motions of eating and smoking.

eat as healthy as you can.

3 bite meals protein and fruit

every 2 hours or so

if you aren't cranky from low blood sugar, it's easier to succeed.

ps. you have some great ideas to break it up and thats what it takes

thank you Jonescarp.

There are so many things to think about, but there is one simple thing I can always remember and that is the taste of my forcing myself to smoke that last cigarette ... it was horrible and even though I thought I should force myself to enjoy it, I just couldn't!  it tasted badly.

I have been reading the articles and doing the work, but mostly I have been working out and sleeping.  That will do for a week or two.

I can eat when I wake up,  but right now I am tired, and that is alright.

Thanks for all the support... I am going to be selfish and say... KEEP IT COMING.. it's always wonderful to read these positive words when I get up and get to the computer.
