Day one of my quit and looking for support!

Hey all,

Congratulations for those of you who have quit! I just stopped this morning -- got through my coffee (the biggest challenge)! I'm looking for buddies to support me, encourage me and to help hold me accountable to stay quit! I've quit probably a hundred times or more, once for a year, but this time it's different -- health reasons. I'd like to hear more of what you all have done to stay an ex!

Thanks,

Polly

CONGRATS Polly. Today is 5 weeks for me, and I am still learnnig how to cope with triggers. WOW, you stopped for a year?? What made you go back? This is something that makes me very afraid. I don't ever want to go back, and want to know how to avoid becoming a smoker again. I hate the fact it is so controlling. This really makes me upset!

You have us, we are all trying and coping together one day at a time. God Bless..............Nikkie

Hey there Polly,

I've been hanging around here a whole lot and it's helped me stay quit. Like you said, it's created accountability for me. And I'm encouraged by the milestones of others and I know that mine is encouraging to others! I don't want to let down the people around here who have helped me so much.

I've gotten to know some of the people here by hanging out so much in the games room. Humor is a great way to relieve the stress and pass the time quitting!

Chewing major amounts of chewing gum and 'smoking' straws has been immensely helpful! As well as exercise! Get a quit meter too.

Great job Polly! So instead of smokes and coffee, it's green tea and cinnamon sticks? I'm not far behind you. Have had a few setbacks, but am filled with determination! Thanks for setting such a great example:)
