Day 79: Starting Good Habits

The only activity I have been getting over the past year, includes walking the dogs and CNA work. So for the first time in a very long time, I went to the gym. I have been smoking since I was 16, so I never really got to experience a work out as a non-smoker. Let me tell you...it is amazing! In the past, I have always attributed my painful breathing while working out to being out of shape and smoking, but more being out of shape. Well stupid me! That pain in my chest and gasping for air, while working out, was not because I am overweight, rather those darn cigarettes we used to love so much. I had a great work out today and all because I do not smoke anymore!

Time to start some good habits!

What good habits would you like to start or have begun since you quit smoking?

Hello L.L.L. you are doing so good, congrats on almost 80 days! I started walking again, riding my bike and due to the inclimate weather (rain...rain...rain..) I was just talking to a couple of my co-workers today about possibly joining a gym. I need to go to a place that is not affected by weather. I think if I go before work in the morning and maybe to another after work, one with a pool I will be able to handle this gym thing. I'm going to look into it right now!

One of the best things you can do for yourself is stop smoking, the other wonderful thing you can do for yourself is get regular vigarous exercise. Congratulations on your quit and congrats on getting to the gym, you will be amazed at the progress you will make if you go on a regular basis. Keep it up!

Congrats on 79 days!! You sound great! I started walking - I worked my way up from 1 mile to now doing 4 or 5 miles at least 4 times a week. Love it! Congrats again!

" />Hi LL, exercise can be wonderful...I've been a regular for years and YOU WILL LOVE IT...to fix the problem of waking up early or working out late, my hubby built a gym at home for us....all u really need are some basics like a work-out bench...some weights...and some good DVD's and stick with it...if U need some help with this, just let me know...  xoxo

I was wondering about that myself. I dont do alot of cardio, but kinda feelin I should. I have always been scared to feel my heart beat so hard and fast, like Im gonna have a heart attack, it doesnt feel "normal" to have it beat so hard. Plus my mom died of a heart attack at my age, soooooooo

Still nice to hear, thanks for sharing, helps 🙂

I like the idea of replacing bad habits with good habits very good way to view it. I am still struggling with anxiety over some family members dying with cancer. So I have postponed my quit date, but your suggestion of adding healthier options into your life gave me some encouragement with how to approach my quit.
