Day 5

I don't think I have ever made 5 days on previous attempts to quit.

Someone told me that 3 days is when nicotine leaves your body? Really that seems a little far fetched. I mean cocaine is 9 days, THC is 28 nicotine would seem to be much longer detox period.

I only get a craving to smoke after eating now. Although I still think about it from time to time the "crave" only comes after eating.

The hacking cough I have developed I know is symptomatic in quitting and I have plenty of Ludens cough drops for that. Wild Cherry indeed. Every time I pop one in my mouth I think of Cherry one of my first quit friends on here.

So all in all I guess I'm doing ok. My Packers lost badly last week which would have driven me to smoke a ton but i didn't smoke once. And I survived just fine. I am finding that Allen Carr was right this is easy if you think about it as something you give up not something you sacrifice. And the One Day at a Time thing also works wonders.

5 Days and counting, I'm hoping that deeper urges are not right around the corner, but also cognizant of if it happens I am prepared to face them.

Be well

This link may help explain some to the reasons why nicotine is so addicitive and how long it takes to leave your body (ie: bloodstream).  http://whyquit.com/whyquit/LinksAAddiction.html

Sorry about your Packers.  Yeah for my Ravens (sorry!).  If you didn't watch our game, you missed one for the ages.  Congratulations on not smoking over it.....I had fleeting thoughts of celebrating with one - but luckily it was fleeting (I am 6 months quit).  Wasn't it nice not to miss a minute of the game because you had to go outside to smoke?????

You are doing great - keep on doing what you're doing 'cause it's obviously working!  And always remember NOPE!

Just take it nice and easy, one hour, one crave, one moment at a time.  When you get through a tough crave, pat yourself on the back.  Because that means you just won a battle against the Prickodemon.  Celebrate your successes.  Keep fighting

PS :  My Colts lost  a couple weeks ago so I feel ya.  (Although everthing was a bonus this year after winning only 2 games all of last)
