Day 5: Help! I've Stopped in More Ways Than One!

So, this is potentially more information than you all need to know, but I am unsure who else to turn to.

I am currently on day 5 of my quit. Yesterday was tough, but you all helped so much with your comments to my first blog post, and I'm feeling much better emotionally and physically today - except for one tiny little problem.

You know that kids book "Everybody Poops"? Well .. yeah, everyone but me, apparently. I haven't pooped in days. At first I thought it was because I am a little apprehensive to do so in the same apartment as my boyfriend (who I moved in with 5 days ago. That's right - major relationship change AND a quit all at the same time. Woo!), but I'm starting to think that it has to do with my not smoking. Has this happened to anyone else? Is my body just getting used to not having a constant intake of the cigarettes? Is it time to turn to a laxative?

I knew quitting smoking meant stopping a lot of things, but I totally didn't anticipate getting all stopped up too! 😉

Perhaps you should try some enigma? Sorry, I couldn't resist. In all seriousness, this is not uncommon. Give your body a few days to adjust, you should be fine. If it goes on longer than that, might want to think about seeing a doctor, but I would give it some time first.

Eat prunes, lots of prunes.  Then stay real close to the bathroom.  You'll feel so much lighter.

I say eat a big rib-eye and follow it with 4 cups of very strong coffee and ask your boyfriend to go out for a bit.

I think I saw on one post this morning....something about an enema,,,or maybe it was enigma?   Couldn't resist...I think all of the suggestions above are good ones!   Your body will go through some changes as it adapts to being nicotine free.  Keep up the good work!

No, I didn't have that side effect but it doesn't surprise me. Your body has quite an adjustment to make as the nicotine leaves your body. It's a very strong drug that effects every part of your system. Good riddance!

if eating ruffage doesn't help then a good Enema should help while listening to Enigma.  Best wishes for a movement, soon.

Thanks for all the tips guys! And at least now I don't feel like such a freak for asking! Good news is - I FINALLY pooped. And I feel like I lost 5 pounds in the process. Whew, what a relief!

Almost done with Day 5. If the constipation is the worst thing I'm worried about today I'd say it was a pretty good day.

Thanks again everyone!
