Day 3

I have been told (as well as from past experience) that days 3 and 5 are the worst.  I am on day three and I think I am doing pretty well.  Cigarettes are definitely on the brain a lot today but I am keeping myself busy at work to try to keep my mind off it.  I am also making sure that I am drinking some juice or eating throughout the day.  I read and article yesterday that said there was a correlation between smoking/not smoking and blood sugar.

In saything that, I have been cigarette free for 3 days but not nicotine free.  I have been puffing on the E-cig off and on.  Does this really count?

Anyway, I am getting through this day hour by hour.  I am scared to see how I will be when I get home.  I always did the bulk of my smoking right when I got home from work.  I could smoke on the E-Cig if I get really out of sorts but in all honestly it just doesn't do it for me.

HANG IN THERE,,,, I quit smoking on Aug 22, but after getting out of the hospital, I went on the ecig then. Thomas on here told me then that it wasnt a good way to go, and now I agree, the nicotine is the addiction, read allan carrs book, it will help you to understand the power of this addiction, I am on day 14 of being nicotine free, and it seems to get a little easier everyday....the ecig,,I just traded delivery systems, sure the tobacco ones worse for you, but still keeps us on the nicodemon....and thats what we have to beat...

Hi there, congrats on day 3!  The first couple of weeks are tough, you need lots of things at-hand to distract yourself and keep busy. The eCig has some drawbacks, mainly that it reinforces the hand-to-mouth habit you need to un-learn. If you don't feel that strongly about it, stop using it. It'll just confuse things.

Here's the link to the Allen Carr book that Jerry mentioned, as well as another website many of us have found helpful:

I don't know much about the ecigg except it has nicotine just like the gum and patch.  I opted for chantix as there is no nicotine and no cravings either.  Everyone is different and there are some people on this site that are very afraid of the chantix because of the side effects.  This is working for me with little to no side effects.  Like I said, everyone is different.
