Day 3

On Wednesday, I had a lung test ......the results were horrific. I quit smokimg about 30 minutes after. This is my 60th attempt to quit. I have smoked for 35 years.

What spurs me on this time is that a work colleague wrote a note to the effect that she hopes I continue smoking and die so that she can take my job. Inspirational and classless.

Well I hope this is it.

Hooray for your decision to Quit and Welcome.  I smoked for 45 years and Quit in response to a scary medical diagnosis.  We are all here to help you, but you need to help yourself to make this your final Quit.  Educate yourself on the addiction - Maggie and Aztec have great links on their pages.  Develop a plan.  It will help folks to relate to you if you fill out the about me section of your page.  I responded to you because our circumstances sounded similar and others will too.  Thomas is a long time member who has all sorts of info on COPD so seek him out.  Use that co-worker's comment as incentive to be sure your job is never available to her.

Hi!!  Welcome!  This place is awesome!  It will be of great help!  You can do this, if all of us can.  I strongly recommend the Allen Carr book listed above, best book I ever read.  Stay close, we're here for you!

Welcome!  This is a great place to get support to make this your lifetime quit.  Please do the reading!  Understanding the addiction and withdrawal process will help.  I too smoked for 35 years, "quitting" about six or seven times along the way.  The difference this time is the support on this site and understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt that I am a nicotine addict.  The key to success is Not One Puff Ever (NOPE)  Simple but not always easy.  You too can be glad to be an ex smoker!  Congratulations on three days!  The worst of the withdrawal should be over now!  Regards, Lisa
