Day 3

Day 3 of being smoke free.  Find myself going 20 to 30 minutes at work not thinking about a cig.  When the withdrawal feeling starts I close my eyes, take some deep breaths and say "I will not smoke today" then the feeling passes.  I have kept an email I received last week from one of my best friend's stating her 48 year old neighbor was diagnosed with lung cancer 2 weeks ago.  I read this email at least 20 times a day to remind myself what a gift I have given myself by being and staying smoke free!

Try a new mantra: "Free, free - I'm set free!!!"

You are freeing yourself from the addiction, never to be addicted again, but to live free from addiction.

You can do it!

Day 3 is really important! It means the drug nicotime is fully out of your system now. It is now up to you to keep it that way.

I didn't read if you are using any quitting aids? If you are not using a nicotine replacement product, then Connie is right - you will be nicotine free after today!  Exciting, isn't it?

Seems you have some good distraction techniques at work - what do you do at home?  Can you take a walk?  Do jumping jacks?  Physical activity will release dopamine in your brain - one thing you are missing from not smokig  Laughing out loud also provides it - so visit YouTube and have a hearty laugh through a crave!

Glad to hear you are doing so well.  Hang in there!

I am using chantix.  I have a 16 month old dog that my husband and I take for walks and play ball in the yard with him.
