Stay strong and keep your mind as well as your hands occupied and stay close to this site. You can do this, I liked chomping on raw carrots and celery sticks when I was having a bad crave, the chomping noise seemed to relax me. I also kept sugar free mints around in case an urge struck me ,hang tough because you are stronger than the cravings.

Do whatever it takes - is the inhaler nicotine, by any chance?  If it is, try to use it as little as possible, and only as a last resort when all the other distractions aren't working.

Distraction is your main tool in the early days.  It takes some effort, but with practice you will find it becomes second nature.  You can take a bite out of a lemon (yup - rind and all), put your head in the freezer and take a deep breath of cold air, do a few jumping jacks, go for a brisk walk or march in place, play a computer game.  Don't let that smoking thought rattle around in your brain unchallenged. Sometimes you need to quit a minute or an hour at a time.  You will need to be disciplined in the early days to distract yourself when a crave hits.  Don't let that smoking thought rattle around your head alone.  Get busy!

One day at a time is how it's done.  Stay the course!  It gets easier - I promise!

Hopefully you're fast asleep and resting !

I understand perfectly how you're feeling but it will not be forever, trust me!

Like Nancy said above in a comment -distraction is the key, and believe me I did actually eat a whole lemon (quite refreshing) and I've put my head inside the freezer(careful not to get a brain freeze)...I did whatever it took at the time and I'll do whatever it takes when needed.

Keep stacking up those days and you'll be happier you did , promise !

All the best (-:

I agree, hope you are fast asleep now but that you will see the outpouring of support when you awaken.  It will get easier...you have to go through the tough times, there are no real shortcuts!  Keep coming here, read blogs, connect with people, you can do this.

Nancy yes the inhalator has nicotine..the quit nurse supplied it along with patches, they give you two to use..your main one ,in my case the patch and a secondary for those really bad times.

Hope you are having a better day! Day 3 was brutal for me as well. The first two weeks just have to be toughed out and then it gets better! Every time you ride those 'crave waves' & make it to shore you are a little bit stronger. Have you read the first chapter of http://quitsmokingonline.com/ ? I love their take on walking through the challenging times.

Congrats on this amazing decision to take your life back! xo
