DAY 999

Today is day 999 of my journey and thus tomorrow I enter the quad squad.  Hooray!  I've been thinking about what I'd want to write on this blog and frankly words were hard to come by for me which will have many of you laughing out loud since so many of my blogs, esp at the beginning of my quit, were like reading short books.  I dedicate this blog to two sets of folks: 1) all who have held my hand the whole way to get here; 2) newbies.

1.  Those who have led me to this place by supporting me how can I ever thank you enough for helping me save my life?  I am such a better person as a non-smoker, not being a nervous wreck awaiting that next cigarette.  Golly what a slave to nicotine I was and I couldn't even see how much I was missing out on.  The other night we had dinner out with friends and I was sitting there realizing as this milestone was approaching how nice it was to actually be engaged with my friends and not sitting there wanting to get the hell out of there to go have a drag.  Thank you all who led me to freedom from the bottom of my heart.

2. Newbies.  Yes, you can do this and will do this.  If I can, you can too.  Do not fight your quit.  When nicodemon comes acknowledge him but let the thought pass and do not dwell on him.  Dwelling is where we get into real danger.  Also, do not drink alcohol without a quit buddy to keep you accountable for not reaching for a cig.  Not one puff!  You stay close to this site and do what the elders tell you and you will make it.  Before you know it, you will be in the quad squad too.  Promise.

Happy holidays to all and love and blessings to all.  Thank you again for being such an important part of my life.

XO,

Stac
