On this headache thing, have you by any chance cut out coffee or caffeine as part of quitting smoking? A lot of people think they need to do that (and it is good to cut down on caffeine). Physical withdrawal from caffeine, however, is worse than withdrawal from nicotine and headaches are a classic symptom. Five days: you are kicking ass. As for going out, what would be really great is if you can find some non-smoking friends to show you a good time this weekend. Maybe some young non-smoking ladies who feel sorry for you because you are trying so hard. You can probably work this thing to your advantage and avoid hanging out with a bunch of smokers your first weekend.
Woot! 5 days is awesome! Weekends are actually harder for me in my wuit (I am not that far ahead of you). At work I can keep myself and my hands busy so my advice to you is to find something to keep yourself occupied. I hope your weekend goes by fast (but not too fast!)
Congrats on your 5-day quit. Be careful about going out. You just started your quit. Don't ruin it by drinking and thinking you can have "just 1" cigarette. You will be right back where you started from, and you DON'T want to go through that again, do you??? Have fun.
Jason, You are doing such a great Job, I agree with Nancy If you party it is so much easier to decide to have a smoke. I think that is how a lot of people myself included sabotage our quit. It is so easy to say I will have just one or just smoke tonight or this weekend and then we are back to starting all over again. Not the worse thing in the world but why suffer through this again. Get through this weekend and you will have a week. I know you can do this Give the gift of life to yourself and be there for your Son. I don't have to tell you what you have to loose you already lived it. So sorry you lost your Dad Change that legacy for your son. So have fun but protect your quit you will be so glad you did
Jason, Keep up the good work. Once you get through the weekend, the rest is easy. You will have already not smoked everyday of the week. Then when you want a cigarette you just tell yourself " I did not smoke on ------------ ( insert day of the week) last week and I was fine, so I can do it today too and be fine.
Headache, blurry crumpy! THat sounds like you really worked out some of the misery that you have stored up in your body getting ready for the next smoke free minute, hour, meal, activity, sleep and then again. Just say NONNONONONONONONONNOONONONONOONONONO and look at me I am doing it! Yes a nother smoke free grumpy second. This IS SUCCESS!
