DAY 41!

I am into 41 days of not smoking. For anyone who is just quitting, I will tell you, that for me, the first two weeks, I thought I could just choke someone. I made a conscious decision to not be around anyone during that time who smoked or in an atmosphere where people did. That included family members.

I am disabled...so I also made a decision to give my money to a family member during this time, so there was no way I could order cigs, have someone bring them to me to be able to pay for them. I don't drive, which is good. I could have never walked that far. So I did have somethings going for me that really helped.

I smoked for 35 years. I have numerous family members who are dying or are very sick from smoking. It's enough to scare the living crap out of me.  I will 50 in March and I sure want to be around to see my kids get married and have children.

I breath better, have certainly saved money, everything smells better; best decision I've made for me in years. I'm proud of me.

This site has been an enormous help and whyquit.com is an excellent source.

I hope we all remain strong. I wanted control back of my life....and I have it and I'm going to keep it.

Congrats to you for 41 smoke free days! Quite the accomplishment!  And your blog is a great testimony to the wonders of quitting. Taking back control feels so good - doesn't it!  Keep going as it only gets better and better!

Maggie, I wanted to thank you so much for referring me to Whyquit the other day. Huge, Huge help. I've been doing the lessons, watching the videos. There is so much material to go through; and a lot of things that should rack your brains....but your words mean so much and I notice you encourage so many people You are truly a gift, so thank you very much.

Your friend,

Good for you Terri!!  I'm on day # 35...and I know for me it's getting much easier!  I have been around some smokers here and there and will agree, that makes it even more difficult!

Congrats again for your accomplishment!  :->}

Thanks everyone. Thanks James. Made me have tears, happy tears. This is such a huge relief to be able to live a healthier life. I have a long road. I am definately having three surgeries this year...hopefully not four. I'm sure hoping that by this time next year I will be a new person.

The one thing I knew for sure was most doctors would not operate if I had not stopped smoking  for at least two months. So I was my own worst enemy by not stopping. Now I'm on to the biggest challenge of my life; one I've been waiting for to make my life better.

This site helps me. It's like AA or NA. I'm just looking for that 30 day button like they get at AA. We deserve it too.
