D Day!!!

Today was the 1st day smoke free. I woke up this morning, smoked my last cigarette and put on my patch. I had to drive my husband and 3 year old to a court appearance for my husband which ended up being 4 hours in the car and then spent another 1.5 hrs in the car driving to work and back. Usually being in the car is a huge trigger but I was fine. My husband even smoked around me and I was NOT jealous. It just smelled terrible! I did not envy a single person I saw smoking today and really didn't think about cigarettes. I was uncomfortable and I feel extra tired. I definitely need to drink more water tomorrow because I did get a headache for awhile towards the end of my night. But overall it feels easier than any other quit I have tried. I have spent the last few weeks mentally preparing myself for this day (the last year if you count learning from failed attempts part of preparation for this one

I am super proud of myself! I got a promotion at work and just started running my own restaurant last week. My quit date was already set weeks before this happened and while it has been stressful I would not let myself use it as an excuse to postpone my Quit Date. I almost did...over the last couple of days I was not meeting the 3-4 smokes/day I was supposed to wean down to...it ended up being 6-7 on those days...but I decided that pushing my Quit Date back a few days would only draw out this whole withdrawal process and I decided to just stick to the plan!
